New alliances were forming on Coobine, however strong alliances did not help them with the flag pole reward challenge with young contestant Jackson faltering, leaving confusion for the remainder of the tribe.
Jackson was concerned that the tribe would hold him accountable for Coobine's loss, but once the immunity challenge to design a tribe flag was underway Jackson pulled his weight with lots of suggestions for a creative challenge. Marcus, the 17 year old student from Victoria, stood up and volunteered to be the tribe scribe for the challenge. Whilst not being able to overcome a 5% deficit, as Brojah’s flag design won the public vote for the best design, Marcus was rewarded with a clue to hidden immunity idol.
At Brojah, the majority of the tribe were able to work together quickly after practicing the flag pole reward challenge instead of building an effective shelter, eventually winning the reward comfortably. Stephanie and Michal struggled with the social side of the game, but really stepped up in challenges much to the approval of the tribe! During the immunity challenge for tribe flag design Jewls also received a clue to an idol while painting the tribe's flag submission.
Coobine went to tribal council after losing the flag design immunity challenge, with Jackson making a major mistake during the reward challenge and Marcus being the scribe in the challenge, both felt vulnerable.
In the end it was Ned who was voted out of Coobine, unanimously.
17 are left! Who will be voted out, tonight?
****Flashback to the immunity challenge
****Marcus reaches down into the clay pot at the base of the easel and picks up a rolled parchment, looking around as he rises to his feet quickly putting the parchment into the waistband of his shorts.
Coobine were blown out of the water in a landslide win by Brojah.
Expat Australian Ned, now living in Virginia USA, struggled with the heat and lack of food on the island, resulting in some less than average performances in challenges. The Westerosi Alliance of Michelle, Matthew, Brendan, Oscar and Grant pushed for Ned as being the easy vote out, while the young people alliance were targeting Brendan.
****Flashback to yesterday
Oscar: Ok so what are we thinking?
Michelle: We vote for Ned? They have been the least vocal?
Michelle: Thoughts?
Grant: You want to go Ned, Michelle?
Matthew: It's a shame that Ned is in a very different timezone. She seems intelligent and funny but I agree we need people who can participate more than she does.
****Flashback to last night’s tribal council.
****Ned is the last to return from voting and takes her seat back in front of the fire pit. Other tribe members are inspecting each other’s body language, making eye contact with their allies.
Kyle: OK I’ll go tally the votes.
***Kyle walks across to the voting urn, whilst Coobine gaze into the fire as if to try to see the future. Jackson looks tired and stares into the distance, Matthew with his ever present smile looks around the tribe. Michelle watches small glowing embers of the fire rise into the sky, while Ned sits perched with elbows on her knees, hands underneath her chin looking tired after a long day.
***Kyle returns carrying the clay urn and positions himself at tribal lectern.
Kyle: If anyone has a hidden immunity idol and would like to play it now would be the time to do so.
****Oscar sits up straight and looks to other tribe members. Grant looks at Ned who is still and silent, hypnotized by the warmth of the fire and low light.
Kyle: I’ll read the votes
****Flashforward to the final vote
Kyle: The first person voted out of Survivor Kangaroo Island...
****Kyle reveals the parchment with the name Ned emblazoned on it. Ned makes eye contact with Michelle, before standing and grabbing her torch.
Kyle: Ned, the tribe has spoken
****Kyle snuffs Ned’s torch, while Ned gives a sweet smile before turning around and smiling at the remaining Coobine tribe.
Grant: Bye Ned
Oscar: Cya Ned
Kyle: You all look united tonight but to remain that way you will need to start winning some challenges. Grab your torches and head back to camp. Goodnight.
****The depleted Coobine tribe all grab their torches sad that they had lost immunity and a tribe member, but happy that they now have fire and can cook some rice.
****Coobine beach is awash with overcast, grey skies. The threat of rain is present and the wind rushes through the leaves of the trees at the edge of the beaches sand. Michelle, Oscar, Jackson, Ian and Marcus are laying randomly in the growing shelter, dozing. Matthew is stacking collected firewood in a small, recently constructed wood shelter. Grant is tending to a small fire, smouldering on flat rocks in a shallow hole dug into the dirt. Brendan watches on as he sits on a log by the primitive firepit, hunched over with his hands in his pockets.
****Ian slowly exits the shelter, looking a little worse for wear, after an uncomfortable nights sleep. He steps over the machete and cooking pot to the log where Brendan is positioned and perches on the log next to him. They both watch Grant add small pieces of wood to the growing fire.
Ian: Good Morning all.
Brendan: Morning Ian.
Grant: Mornin’ mate
Ian: So I managed to sleep through tribal council. I'm assuming that’s the first time that’s happened in survivor. Nice to still be here.
Brendan: I slept through it as well.
Grant: I reckon having input into challenges and general activity will play a big part in this game. We need to be social and active. 100%
Matthew: Yeah I agree.
Brendan: Yeah
****Oscar, Marcus and Jackson make their way out of the shelter and joins the group, standing by the fire.
Marcus: Morning all. Very keen to see the tree mail this morning.
Jackson: Yeah same.
Marcus: Let’s go check.
Oscar: I'll come
****Marcus, Oscar and Jackson walk the track to the tree mail. As the trio approaches a small lizard scampers away up a tree and disappears into the branches.
Oscar: Well that went to plan last night! Did Ned vote for Michelle?
Jackson: I was talking to her this morning trying to figure that out.
Oscar: What about Ian? Ian was aligned with Ned.
Marcus: Nah he voted her as well to take the focus off him. He backstabbed her. He is a game player! I think he will be more of a threat than Grant will ever be!
Jackson: Yeah he is no threat. We are the threat and people are too dumb to realise that!
Marcus: Yeah we are a threat!! Grant seems tame now.
Jackson: Its true! The oldies are underestimating us!
Marcus: We just gotta get rid of one of them and add Ian to the alliance and we are sweet to the merge!
Oscar: So what is our next move if we lose another immunity challenge? Ian is the wildcard
Marcus: Yeah Oscar is right, he could just feed info back to Michelle and Grant
Jackson: Nope he wants Grant out! He said "Grant is buddies with everyone until it suits him!" Ian is working with Michelle.
Oscar: Lets not give Ian his first vote, let's give him the chance to gain our trust. See if he is loyal!
Jackson: Yeah ok!
****Brojah's beach is choppy, windy and the sky is dark above. The raft left on the high water line bobs in the water as the waves crash onto the wet sand. The members of Brojah are huddled together in the cool weather. Jake and Joshua are collecting bamboo to start a proper shelter, Benjamin is using the machete to cut the bamboo into lengths and to sharpen sticks to dig holes. Jewls and Alisha head to the well to fill water bottles for everyone. Jake and Joshua talk out of earshot of the others.
Joshua: So glad we are together in this tribe!
Jake: Yeah we should win many challenges. I don't see Coobine winning at all haha!
Joshua: Yeah they seem pretty ordinary. How would you feel about us going all the way together?
Jake: Top 2 you mean?
Joshua: Yeah all the way!
Jake: Sounds great.
Joshua: We can control this game! We've got a strong Brojah alliance with Alisha, Benjamin and Diane!
***Jake smiles in agreement. Meanwhile, Jewls and Alisha reach the well and start to fill the tribes water containers.
Jewls: That flag is amazing. I like it even though my favorite colour is green!
Alisha: Reds my favourite colour so I was lucky in that respect haha but yeah loved it!
Alisha: I think you're a really good person to have on my side. You're smart and helpful and fun. I'm thinking of making an alliance with a couple of people including Joshua and Kayell and I'd love to play with you. Would you be willing to be a part of this alliance?
Jewls: I think it’d nice to be part of a four person alliance. Count me in
Alisha: Awesome! Might ask Jake too if you would be good with that?
Jewls: You can give it a go. But that would be five people, a bit over half of the group. I wonder if others have already formed alliances? LOL this is all so tricky!
Alisha: We want a majority, so 5 is a perfect number. I will have a chat with Jake and Kayell and perhaps you could have a chat with Josh.
Jewls: OK, Perhaps don't tell Jake who else is in the group unless he has started talking with others.
Alisha: Oh yeah! See this is why I want to play with you, you're smart
Jewls: Not so much smart, but cautious
Alisha: Haha one could argue both
Jewls: You’re sweet. ((Hug))
**** Tree Mail has been posted on the both tribes notice board.
Tree Mail:
SLIDE A TILE AND COUNT YOUR SCORE,
THE AVERAGE COUNTS FOR SO MUCH MORE
SO DO YOUR BEST AND USE YOUR BRAIN
OR YOU COULD FIND YOURSELF AT TRIBAL AGAIN
****The Brojah shelter is starting to come along with a bit more effort. All tribe members are wary of the approaching dark clouds and decide to put some extra effort into collecting materials and taking more time in improving the shelter and getting it to a point where they could be comfortable. Jewls has wandered away from the group to search for an idol while others gather materials. Joshua has walked to get tree mail as Stephanie sits by herself watching the shelter being made permanent, pondering her role in the tribe and in the competition. Stephanie has been very reserved and quiet, struggling with the social side of the game.
Stephanie: Hey guys, can I just have your attention for a minute.
****The immediate members that are putting up the ridge poles for the shelter, stop and notice Stephanie seems sad and gives her the attention she seeks.
Stephanie: I was thinking last night, I feel slightly out of touch here. I'm not a huge talker so stuff like this is hard for me. we should do a like a little introduction, like age, state, occupation etc. or even something like two truths a lie. Just to get to know each other and have a bit of fun.
****Diane comforts Stephanie as the other present members introduce themselves to Stephanie, where they are from and what their individual interests are. Stephanie listens as the others socialise and the conversation builds about pets, favourite books and then about the tree mail as Joshua returns. Stephanie feels a bit more part of the tribe, but still on the sidelines among very strong personalities.
Alisha: So sounds like the challenge will be a mathematics slide puzzle of some kind.
Jake: I'm studying mathematics!
Diane: That's great Jake!
Benjamin: Well I know from experience I’m horrific at maths so it might be to everyone’s benefit if I sit out.
Alisha: How terrible Ben? Cause I said the same thing but turns out I am better than I think.
Benjamin: Trust me I'm bad at it!
Alisha: Well we want the best performers in the challenge!
****Benjamin stands up and begins to wander off towards the beach.
Benjamin: Well as I said, I am no good at maths, so I'll sit this one out.
Alisha: Does everyone agree with Ben sitting out?
Diane: Surely you can't be that bad at maths. You've been strong at challenges.
***Benjamin has left the camp site and sauntered down to the beach, away from the discussion.
****Grant, Matthew and Michelle are sitting on the grassed area by Coobine's beach watching dark clouds hover above ominously. Matthew is sharpening the wooden prongs on his primitive spear as Grant makes a basket for a fish trap out of thin strips of bamboo that he has split with a knife. Michelle sits in front of them both.
Michelle: Can't believe there is no reward challenge?
Grant: Straight to Immunity!? Scary!
Michelle: We need to win this one guys!
Matthew: I don’t wanna go back to tribal.
****Matthew straps a new piece of wood into the prongs of his spear to separate them further. He binds it with thin bamboo.
Matthew: Ok I'm gonna go and test this spear out near the rocks.
Grant: Ok mate.
****Matthew excitedly leaps to his feet and jogs down the beach towards the rocky outcrop in the cove. Marcus and Jackson approach Grant & Michelle, watching Matthew bouncing through the shallow water.
Michelle: Hey
Jackson: Hey guys.
Grant: Hi
Jackson: Marcus and I were just saying we need to win this challenge today!
Michelle: Yeah we sure do!
Marcus: Let's just help each other, offer hints and ways to improve and cross our fingers!
Grant: Well I'm not a big fan of just sitting back and crossing our fingers. Let's work hard and we will be rewarded!
Jackson: So I know we haven't talked much, but I am really keen to work with both of you.
Marcus: You both seem to know the game and do well in challenges.
Jackson: I think it would be in your best interest to be in an alliance with us, Ian and Oscar!
****Grant looks to Michelle for a reaction as Michelle smiles at Jackson's approach.
Jackson: Let's face it, this game is about numbers and we need each other!
Grant: Well I think I talk on behalf of both of us, by saying that it would be great if you would be willing to let us work with you guys. You young guys will be strong in challenges!
Jackson: We have the numbers and we can protect you both.
Michelle: That would be great Jackson. Thanks so much for including us in your discussions.
Grant: Yeah thanks Jackson, protection would be good.
Jackson: Stick with us and we may even go top 5
Grant: That would be amazing!! Thanks guys.
IT'S GOOD TO HAVE PROTECTION FROM FRIENDS AND FROM FOES,
IT COULD BE THAT SALVATION IS RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE.
FOR "X" WILL MARK THE SPOT, AND PROTECTION CLOSE AT HAND,
5 STEPS FROM THE CENTRE, IT IS BURIED IN THE SAND.
****Jewls has managed to slip away from the main group of Brojah to finally look at her idol clue. Reading it out aloud she ponders the cryptic message.
Jewls: X marks the spot! It has to be two trees that cross over! Five steps from the centre of them and I shall dig my way to an idol!! Woohoo
****Jewls excitedly walks through the wooded area looking for any sign of an "X" marking the spot, but to no avail. She leaves the shaded woods and makes her way through the grasslands up from the beach searching for trees that intersect, then onto the beach, over to the rocky outcrop at the southern end of the beach, before heading back to camp. She is frustrated but doesn't want to create too much interest in it.
****Kyle stands in the middle of a sandy court, strewn with various obstacles. A tall, multi-level wooden platform stands at the end of the sandy quadrangle, one side adorned in red coloured flags emblazoned with BROJAH, the other side with green, trumpeting the name COOBINE. They look tall and foreboding from the ground as their shadows reach across the sand in the mid-morning light. Balancing beams, seesaw planks and a low cargo net can also be seen.
Kyle: Come on in guys.
****The two tribes enter a sunny arena in a line and head towards two coloured mats. The clouds have lifted since earlier this morning and the chance of rain has reduced. Brojah tribe members look excited and curious to see who was taken out of their competing tribe last night.
Kyle: Brojah getting their first look at Coobine, Ned voted out at last night's tribal council.
****Brojah team talk amongst themselves at the news of the evictee and the loss of one member from Coobine.
Kyle: Ok are we all ready to get to today’s immunity challenge?
Diane: Yeah!
Kyle: First things first, Brojah I’ll take back the immunity idol.
****Jewls steps forward, her flowing red hair shining in the sun as she hands Kyle the wooden idol. He places the wooden idol atop a small pedestal next to him, as Jewls returns to her team.
Kyle: Once again, immunity is back up for grabs! For today's challenge, tribes will be required to race along the course from their starting mat, first make their way across the balance beam and over the see saw, climb under the cargo net and make their way underneath it to the end, before scaling a 6ft tall wooden fence before racing to climb a rope ladder at the bottom of the wooden platforms to the next level and a ladder to the top of the platform where you will find a 4x4 sliding puzzle. The puzzle is not like any other puzzle though!! Everyone will do the puzzle one at a time. You match the numbers on the puzzle to get a score until you can move no more. The highest score will win immunity.
Kyle: Worth playing for?
Jackson: Yesssss
Diane: Yeah
Kyle: Brojah, you’ve got one extra player. Who you gonna sit out?
****The Brojah tribe members huddle together working out the way to win and deciding an order and who to sit out. The tribe disband, unsure if they all agree with the decision.
Benjamin: I’m gonna sit out.
Kyle: Brojah sitting out Benjamin. I’ll give you a minute to strategise!
****Benjamin saunters through the sand to a bench on the edge of the court.
Kyle: OK for Brojah – Jake, Jewls, Alisha, Kayell, Diane, Stephanie, Joshua, and Michal.
Kyle: For Coobine – Matthew, Marcus, Grant, Ian, Oscar, Michelle, Brendan and Jackson gonna battle it out.
**** The two tribes have their orders sorted out and are in a line behind a mat at the start of the course. Kyle stands between the lines ready to start the competition.
Kyle: OK Tribes playing for immunity. Survivors ready?
Kyle: Go!
**** The two starting competitors are Michal for Brojah and Brendan for Coobine, they race off their mats and make quick work through the course reaching the top of the platform at the same time. Michal starts sliding tiles with consideration, his score gradually getting higher. Brendan slides his tiles quickly, working through at speed. Brendan scores 7448 and can’t move any further, flagging the next tribe member to go.
Marcus, the second player for Coobine, works through the course with ease, slowly over the balance beams and seesaw before getting under the cargo net. Michal is still sliding tiles with some forethought, before reaching a stop and thinking. He sets his course and keeps sliding tiles. Marcus reaches the top platform and starts on the puzzle, sliding tiles with some haste.
****Michal reaches a stop with his puzzle and can go no further. The second member for Brojah is Stephanie who does well to work across the balance beams and seesaws. Marcus continues his puzzle strongly and scores 14048 before Michelle races from the mat for Coobine. Stephanie is performing strongly and reaches the top platform, Michelle follows her not long after, both ladies beginning to start the puzzle. Michelle stops and concentrates for a moment trying to work out a way to slide same numbers together. Stephanie stumbles and cannot go any further. Stephanie scores 3488 and Diane, the third player for Brojah, races from the mat.
****One by one, the teams fly through the obstacles and each have their turn on the puzzle with mixed results. Michelle (Coobine) – 18060, Diane (Brojah) – 5452, Matthew (Coobine) – 17664, Ian (Coobine) – 25320, Jewls (Brojah) – 13500.
Kayell races up to the top platform and begins the puzzle, randomly sliding pieces blindly. After she makes several moves she suddenly stands back and puts her hands on her head. She thinks she can't make any further moves, but there is one more move available. Her score for Brojah is at 7360, when she backs away from the challenge and rejoins the tribe, defeated and frustrated. Brojah's next player Jake sets off through the obstacles.
Matthew: Wow Ian. You are killing it!
**** Jackson for Coobine starts off the mat as Matthew finishes and makes his way steadily through the course. Once reaching the platform he does not start the puzzle, but studies it, mentally noting different things. He starts slowly on the puzzle. Jake for Brojah gets to the platform and works quickly. Jackson continues pacing himself, patiently making moves after giving each possibility some thought. His score is starting to get higher. He beats teammates Michelle’s score, then Matt’s and beats Ian’s great scores. He is in a world of his own, fully focused on each move. Jake finishes with 16024 for Brojah, when Joshua makes his way through the obstacles.
****Jackson quickly turns to his team mates as if he has just figured something out.
Jackson: So guys the trick is to try to avoid swiping up!
Jackson: It’s good to keep the biggest number in the corner.
Ian: Your a wiz Jackson.
Michelle: Great job Jackson!!
****Jackson continues sliding the tiles against the sandy wooden board. Joshua is making progress on the puzzle when Jackson suddenly stops. He studies the board, a look of defeat spreads across his face. Realisation dawning. He has made a wrong move! Jackson stands with his hands on his hips disappointed. He steps forward, defeated and makes a few more moves before finishing with 33872. The remaining members make their way and finish the puzzles with Coobine’s Oscar going last. Hurriedly pushing pieces, Oscar makes quick work of it. Several moves go by when in his haste a piece of the tile lifts up from the board and flies off the table. Oscar picks it up and puts it back on the board. Several moments later Oscar cannot move any further and finishes the puzzle, meaning Alisha for Brojah cannot go any further. Coobine celebrates Oscar completing the puzzle first and hopefully that means Coobine has had the better chance to get a higher score.
Kyle: Oscar finishes first for Coobine!!! Alisha is spent!
****Kyle checks the score tally.
Kyle: Looking back at the challenge Oscar posted a score of 14878, however it is evident that when he placed the tile back on the board, he placed it in a different slot than where is was supposed to go, therefore his score at that time will be recorded as his finishing score.
****Oscar looks disappointed with the ruling, as does the rest of Coobine. Michelle stands confused with her mouth ajar. Matthew shakes his head in disappointment.
Brojah Score Coobine Score
Michal 22112 Brendan 7448
Stephanie 3488 Marcus 14048
Diane 5452 Michelle 18060
Jewls 13500 Matthew 17664
Kayell 7360 Ian 25320
Jake 6024 Jackson 33872
Joshua 22244 Grant 16584
Alisha 8784 Oscar 7488
Total 88,964 Total 140,484
****Kyle pulls away from score tally board and puts two hands in the air signalling the end of the challenge and a winner declared.
Kyle: Coobine win immunity. Safe from tribal council!
Kyle: Brojah has a date with me at tribal tonight.
****Coobine shout in triumph!! The victorious tribe come together in a united embrace. Jackson pulls from the scrum and is handed the idol by Kyle and he holds it up into the air. The green team of Coobine all come together again and celebrate in a huddle as Jackson returns with the immunity idol, whilst the defeated red team of Brojah look dejected and disappointed. Benjamin stands by himself off the main group as they all commiserate the loss.
Ian: Jackson u da man!!!!
Grant: Jackson! Yay killer!
Alisha: Well done Coobine
Joshua: Well done Coobine!
Matthew: What a relief. Lol we worked really hard for that one. It's not nice going to Tribal! Brojah, you made us work for it. Thanks.
Joshua: You wanna swap spots tonight?
Alisha: Obviously we don't want to go to Tribal, but Coobine did awesome. Well done guys!
Jake: Definitely deserved. Great job guys! :)
Brendan: Thanks Jake :)
Kyle: Grab your things and head back to camp. Brojah you will see me tomorrow night, where someone will go home.
****Both tribes grab their things, Ian carries the tribe flag while Jackson holds onto the idol like he is holding the world cup! Both tribes leave the area in different directions.
****Brojah's beach is bright and warm as the midday sun soars overhead, a light offshore wind rustles through the improving shelter as they return to camp. Benjamin tends to the fire as Stephanie, Kayell and Michal lay in the shelter discussing the challenge. Jewls has wandered off towards the well, doing who knows what!? Jake, Alisha, Diane and Joshua sit on the sand at Brojah beach, discussing the challenge.
Alisha: Well that wasn't good!
Diane: No it wasn't! This all just got real!
Jake: What's everyone thinking for tonight?
Joshua: I'm not 100% sure. I was happy for Michal to go next but he killed it in the challenge!
Alisha: Yeah he did!
Joshua: Maybe Kayell, she kinda stuffed up in the challenge. Didn't score much!
Alisha: Yeah that's a fair point.
****Benjamin approaches the group sitting on the beach
Benjamin: hey guys what are we thinking?
Alisha: Hi Ben, maybe Kayell?
Benjamin: Yeah she hasn't contributed much! Stephanie hasn't done much at all either.
Alisha: I think Stephanie, for her blunder!
Joshua: Kayell had the blunder lol Steph just scored shit!
Benjamin: Perhaps we should find out who Jewls is targeting, who Michal is targeting, etc
Joshua: Yeah but we are the supreme rulers mwahahaha
Benjamin: Yeah I was just being hyperbolic haha If we can make the others think they had a hand in the decision we can hide our alliance for longer.
Benjamin: So maybe individually try and hit them up, see where their heads are at, who they think should go, etc
Joshua: No it's gotta be Steph. Let them approach us, see if they have alternate ideas, but it has to be Steph!
Alisha: They're not going to approach us.
Jake: OK So I guess its Stephanie tonight! haha
Joshua: Yep all done! Bye Bye steph! muhahaha
****Coobine beach is bathed in magnificent sunshine, the shelter looks well constructed with woven grass mats, walls and a fire pit and shield in front of the platform. The tribe return triumphant from the shock immunity challenge, placing their torches against the tribe flag.
Matthew: Congrats everyone. Definitely a more rounded tribe performance than Brojah
Matthew: Special thanks to Jackson and Ian's mammoth scores
Ian: Agreed!
Marcus: I really wanna see who goes home it will be interesting to see whose on the bottom for them.
Ian: Lets get stuck into a few coconut milks tonight!
Grant: just glad we aren't going back to tribal.
Jackson: So happy
Michelle: Woohoo!!
Brendan: Who do we think will be voted off the other tribe? Any thoughts?
Jackson: The person with the lowest score or the person who sat out maybe?
Michelle: Diane and Stephanie didn't score well.
Grant: Well Ben sat out, which I thought was weird. It's hard to tell who contributes
Jackson: Yeah that's true
****Matthew and Oscar sit in the shelter, Matthew packing clumps of grass into the edges of the shelter to block spots where drips of rain comes through.
Oscar: So I know we just won immunity and can rest easy, but just wanted to let you know I've got your back man!
Matthew: Thanks Oscar. I would really like to keep this 5 for as long as possible. So you can count on me as well!
Oscar: Yeah I would too, but I think more is happening behind the scenes, which may not be good for us!
Matthew: Like what?
Oscar: Well apparently there's another core alliance of four being made with others as well, including some from our alliance. Do you know anything about this?
Matthew: Nope, first I've heard of it... which is a bad sign I guess. What do you know? Grant said that he has been talking to someone so is he meant to be in this 4 core alliance?
Oscar: Yeah Grant is. Definitely!!
Oscar: I like Grant but wonder if we can trust him?
Matthew: Grant is probably playing both sides and will go with the alliance he feels safest with. Who have you spoken to?
Oscar: Yeah that kinda play makes me nervous. I've talked to pretty much everyone but Ian.
Oscar: If there was one person in our 5 that you don't think we can 100% trust and is dangerous who would
you say??
Matthew: Well it's survivor I don't think anyone should be 100% trusted lol
Oscar: Yeah I agree, I just don't wanna be played. Be a part of someone else's plan without knowing it.... and if the Westeros five don't chat much, you know it's not a strong alliance.
Matthew: Well we've all spoken up in that alliance except Brendan who's usually asleep anyway!
Oscar: Are you good with Brendan? Cos the way I see it, we can't vote out Marcus or Jackson! They are solid in challenges!
Matthew: Yeah we've spoken a few times. Are you saying you want Ian out next?
Oscar: No I'm not saying that. I mean in an ideal world I would want all of them to stay, but that would mean voting someone out of the Westeros alliance. We either bite the bullet and make a move and make this interesting or feel uncomfortable with threats and loafers!
****Matthew nods his head acknowledging Oscar's sentiments, mulling it over in his head.
****The morning sun is suspended in the deep blue sky and Brojah's camp is quiet. Several tribe members are laying in the shelter while some go about daily chores. Diane, Kayell and Jewls are at the well after filling water bottles for the tribe.
Diane: any thoughts about tonight - i know i sucked at it so hope its not me!!
Kayell: I know the other guys are saying Steph but I am thinking Ben. I know I haven't contributed as much as I could've, but he's not coming across as all that friendly....Or helpful for that matter.
Diane: Yeah my thoughts too - I know I got a lower score but at least I worked my butt off for it!
Jewls: I was thinking Ben as well. He didn’t want to even try at that last challenge where others did give it a go.
Diane: Yep even Michal and Steph worked their butts off in the challenge!
Jewls: I’d feel comfortable writing Ben’s name over people like Steph who gave it a go and improved as she went...and Michal who did brilliantly! Both did what they could, and went well with it!
Diane: But do we have the numbers?
Jewls: I'll have a chat with Alisha, she seems to be the person to talk to, but it might have to be Steph if we can't get the numbers!
****Later in the morning, Alisha and Joshua are collecting firewood in a shady wooded area of Brojah's beach, when Jewls approaches.
Jewls: Hey guys
Alisha: Hi Jewls how are you?
Jewls: Tired I didn't get much sleep last night.
Alisha: So I was thinking, now we are all here. I think we would make an awesome team together. Would you all like to work together? Like, can we just make a quick final 3 pact. And if I hear either of your names being thrown around, I'll let you know! I think we could be a great team guys!
Joshua: Sounds awesome! I don't think anyone would see that coming! This will work really well!
Jewls: Absolutely... And ditto. If I hear names I’ll let you know and I’ll try to steer people in other directions.
Jewls: I don't wanna go to tribal!
Joshua: Me either! But it's a little bit exciting at the same time!
Jewls: So what are we thinking for the vote tonight?
Joshua: Steph! All the way Steph! No need for any other discussions really.
Alisha: Well let's hear her out. What are your thoughts Jewls?
Jewls: Well........
****Kyle stands on one side of a large fire pit which is positioned in the centre of the tribal council area. The eroded rocks that tower over the area shimmer in the fire light. Wooden crates are stacked on one side of the area with the name of the ship that was shipwrecked on the shores of Kangaroo Island. Behind Kyle a large granite rock adorned with faint indigenous rock paintings can be seen in the faint light from the flame torches. Brojah tribe members walk in from the right.
Kyle: Behind each of you is a torch, go ahead and grab one. Approach the flame, dip it in and get fire.
****Tribe members grab their own torch and move to main firepit to dip their torch into the flickering flames.
Kyle: This is part of the ritual of tribal council, because in this game fire represents your life… and when your fire is gone, so are you.
****Tribe members with their torches, place them behind the seating area in holes in the ships deck, lighting the immediate area and the indigenous artwork on the remarkable rocks behind the tribe. The tribe take their seats by the fire pit. From left to right Alisha, Jake, Jewls, Joshua, Ben, Michal, Kayell, Diane and Stephanie
Kyle: Diane what does this game mean to you?
Diane: This game means a lot to me. I have been an avid fan since the first US season and haven't missed one yet. Love the Australian version too. To be a part of this is quite amazing, it replicates the show in so many ways and reinforces that social interaction is important and treating people like you want to be treated.
Diane: Obviously down the track you will find that you are swayed in one direction more than others - with people that interact with but in the interim it's great to see everyone acting for the good of the tribe and positive interactions between team members.
Kyle: Does anyone think alliances have formed?
Alisha: I would say that alliances have probably formed. At this time in the game we have all started to get to know each other, so I am sure that some people have spoken to one another and have become somewhat closer than they are with others.
Benjamin: Tonight's the night we'll see if alliances are in play and if they are trustworthy!
Kyle: So tell me how is camp life? Does Brojah all work together?
Stephanie: The tribe is good... I think?! I think we are all working together well and getting along great. We are all committed to doing our best and that's all we can do!
Kyle: Brojah has there been any talk about idols? Do you think they are out there?
Jewls: There hasn't been a great deal of comments or discussion about idols. Some have joked that people have gone looking, whether thats true of not, I don't know. Obviously in FB Survivor its harder to "see" if someone has actually been searching, or if they have found a clue.... or indeed an idol. It will be interesting to find out... and it will come out of the blue if an idol is already in play.
****Joshua smiles at Jewls response. Jake smiles and swaps gazes with Michal and then Alisha.
Alisha: Idols scare the crap out of me in this game!
Stephanie: Haha I have no idea how to look for one, or what they actually look like.
Joshua: Yeah I have no idea either!
Kyle: So tell me about the challenge wins the last few days. Brojah won the flag pole reward challenge and then the tribe flag challenge for immunity.
Jake: The flagpole reward challenge was really fun in my opinion, everyone worked tremendously well as a team and I am proud that we were able to pull it off in the end. Not everyone was able to complete it, but the majority of people put their hand up to practice and get involved.
Kyle: You practiced?
Jake: Yeah we practiced for 35-40 minutes non stop leading up to the challenge. It shows how strong, dedicated and committed we are as a team.
Kyle: What about the tribal flag immunity challenge?
Jake: Everyone came together in adding their own little niche into the flag and we were able to pull the first immunity challenge win in the game. We've set the bar high and I'm hoping to do so with this tribe.
Kyle: How important is it for Brojah to get this vote right?
Joshua: Kyle it is massively important! Every step in Survivor is dangerous and you need to treat everyone with caution, so you can build the best resume for the jury in the end game!
Kyle: pretty early to be talking about end game isn't it?
Joshua: It's never too early!
Kyle: Kayell is there an easy vote tonight?
Kayell: I think there is, but time will tell.
Kyle: Benjamin, what factors are you taking into account for your vote tonight?
Benjamin: I think one of the big things that goes into making this vote is who is talking to me. Who has taken the time to say hi and maybe "Woohoo same tribesies!", or something like that.
****Alisha and Kayell laugh at Benjamins comment. Jake smiles.
Benjamin: If you have completely ignored me or haven't acknowledged that I exist, then I am going to assume you are going to vote for me and in turn I will be gunning for you.
Kyle: That seems like a fair call.
Benjamin: Even lying to me is better than nothing. Plus, its a social game and its hard to know whats going on if you're not being social!
Kyle: So for a tribe that seems to be working so well and practicing for challenges. Where did yesterday's immunity challenge go so wrong?
Michal: Unfortunately we simply lost. But everyone did their best! I'm super excited to take part in the next immunity challenge!
Kayell: Perhaps the question should be why did Benjamin sit out?
Kyle: Why did you sit out of the challenge Benjamin. You're obviously one of the stronger competitors.
Benjamin: As I said to the tribe at the time, I suck at maths games and it would be beneficial for the tribe if I sat out. They all agreed.
Diane: I don't recall anyone agreeing to it. You were adamant you didn't want to take part
Kyle: Ok well with that, it's time to vote. Kayell You're up!
****Kayell walks across a short pathway to the voting booth, a small wooden hut in the style of an indigenous bark shelter. One by one the other tribe members make the same journey to place their votes in the clay pot on a wooden ship captains table. Stephanie reaches the table and writes down a name on the parchment, before holding it up for viewers to see.
Stephanie: My vote is going to Ben.
****Benjamin walks to the voting booth, smiling and confident. He reaches for the marker and writes down a name on the parchment.
Benjamin: I am voting for Kayell
****Joshua walks across the gangway to the booth and writes a single line. It could be the start of a 'K' or a 'B'. Stephanie is the last to return from voting and takes her seat back in front of the fire pit. Other tribe members are inspecting each other’s body language, making eye contact with their allies.
Kyle: OK I’ll go tally the votes.
***Kyle walks across to the voting urn, whilst Brojah gaze into the fire as if to try to see the future. Kayell grits her teeth, seemingly nervous about the vote. Jewls smiles nervously.
***Kyle returns carrying the clay urn and positions himself at tribal lectern.
Kyle: If anyone has a hidden immunity idol and would like to play it now would be the time to do so
****Kayell sits up straight and looks to other tribe members. Benjamin looks at Joshua who is smiling and excited to hear the outcome of the vote.
Kyle: OK! Once the votes are read, the decision is final, person voted out will be asked to leave the tribal council area immediately. I’ll read the votes.
****Jewls holds her breath while Kayell puts her face into her hands, not wanting to look at the unfolding votes. Kyle reaches into the urn and pulls out a light brown parchment, unfolding it to reveal the name scrawled on it. One by one he pulls out votes, showing the result as he announces them.
Kyle: 1st Vote - Stephanie
Kyle: 2nd Vote - Benjamin
Kyle: We’re tied, one vote Stephanie, one vote Benjamin .
****Benjamin looks at Alisha who turns and looks at Joshua to see his response. Stephanie remains unmoved, eyes wide as she watches the votes unfold.
Kyle: 3rd Vote - Benjamin
****Stephanie lets out a sigh. Jake smiles at Benjamin receiving a second vote.
Kyle: 4th Vote – Benjamin
Kyle: That’s three votes Benjamin, one vote Stephanie.
****Benjamin shifts his weight beneath him and faces Joshua, who raises his chin from his hand and smiles wildly, knowing that Benjamin is looking at him. Benjamin tries burning holes in Josh's face with his stare!
Kyle: 5th vote and second person voted out of Survivor Kangaroo Island...
****Kyle reveals the parchment with the name Benjamin emblazoned on it. Benjamin makes eye contact with Kayell and then Joshua, before standing up boisterously and grabbing his torch from behind the tribe in a huff.
Joshua: Woohoo!
Benjamin: Yeah great move guys! You keep the weak ones and get rid of a strong tribe member! No way you are winning now!
Kyle: Benjamin, the tribe has spoken
****Kyle snuffs Benjamin’s torch, who is still a little ticked off. He turns to acknowledge the tribe before shaking his head in disbelief.
Joshua: See ya Benjamin!
Alisha: Cya Ben
Kyle: Well, for a seemingly united tribe, that vote was also united. Can there be unity without immunity? Grab your torches and head back to camp. Goodnight.
****The depleted Brojah tribe are shocked at Benjamin's departure, before they all grab their torches from behind the crates and begin their hike back to camp.
Benjamin: So, second boot!!! I didn’t really expect to do that badly, but I couldn’t really get the feel for the tribe anyway. I really got a huge dose of bad luck when I put all my trust in Jake - he was clearly playing me and I didn’t see it until now. I figured something was up and he was really good at making me feel safe, when, well, y’know, I’m sitting here right now and Stephanie isn’t. I’ll probably feel less wounded in a few weeks, but for now I really hope he gets voted out next. Otherwise, a lot of people are gonna go through the same thing I did!
