Hundreds, if not thousands of sites, have been visited to source games, notes, tournament details and results for Australian Chess in the years prior to 2022. Sites utilised since commencement of this web site in August 2022 have been:
ACF Newsletter Archive: the newsletter archive of the Australian Chess Federation
Belgian Chess History: an extensive and well-organised site
BrazilBase: (in Portuguese) is an extensive and well-organised site (Google Translate manages only partial translation due to site set-up). It is particularly useful for older events and includes crosstables.
BritBase: is a national archive of British chess tournament games, for viewing online and downloading in zipped PGN format. Extremely well organised with extensive games and tournament outcomes and details. The assistance of John Saunders, BritBase's webmaster, is acknowledged.
Byron Shire Echo: Ian Rogers' newspaper column (Ian's column, originally sourced to the Echo from the Canberra Times, discontinued July 2023)
ChessChat: Australia's premier chess forum
Chessexpress: A blog mainly devoted to chess (amazingly updated daily for years and with a mainly Australian focus)
DanBase: a collection of Danish chess games
Lars Balzar: maintains an extensive and well-organised site which includes a geographic base with links to the majority of the world's countries' chess pages
New Zealand Chess: the official website of the New Zealand Chess Federation Inc, the governing body of chess in New Zealand. Well organised and with extensive information, look out for the: Bulletin; Database; Magazine; and Listener columns
OlimBase: a huge site with a focus on team-based events, but also includes a range of individual events and past ELO ratings.
OzBase: this site is intended to hold games of Australian Chessplayers and games played in chess events held in Australia
Spanish Chess History: (in Spanish) An excellent and extensive site with tournament details, games, magazines, etc. The contributions of Alejandro Melchor, who is assisting finding Australian-based Spanish data, is also acknowledged.
South Australian Chess Association: An extensive and well-organised site, albeit many (most) of the links to games fail on direct click (work-around for Windows users: right-click Open Link in New Tab will download the files)
The Week in Chess: A weekly digest of current games, running since 1994
The West Australian: The Chess Association of West Australia's database of David Ellis' weekly column uploaded in a Word format (contains more than 20 years of columns)
