aus-elections.fyi will be shutting down
Hello
Today, I've made decision to close down aus-elections.fyi
Running this website and maintaining this website is too ambitious for a singular person, as it would take too much time to document and I feel that I would not even be accurate because 'accurate' is subjective.
Plus, I've realised that it's hard to share information without my own opinions creeping in, and I want to be involved with presenting a neutral website, but have bias and don't have confidence in this. I feel this website, especially in how I write the party manifesto's is not helping with forming individual thinking and critical thinking. If I do decide to summarise a political party's manifesto, I'd probably do it on my blog at samc.fyi
So, instead of doing this, which has really no benefit to the general public as other people do a much better job, I suggest checking out lots of different sources.
For example for detailed election results and statistics, I recommend Wikipedia and relevant electoral commissions, and for older elections that aren't really documented well try searching the archives at naa.gov.au or trove.nla.gov.au
For more opinion, analysis, or information about elections, check out YouTube channels, Antony Green's Blog, or conventional news media outlets for this. Remember, you should not be completely reliant on one source, especially if its from the politician themselves and you are reading information that strictly isn't about the results. I urge you to look at news from different places too, so you get the whole picture. So that way, you can become a super-informed voter!
Thank you, I have no idea why I started this project because I knew full well how much work was ahead of me. I guess I had some form of optimism around the elections for ACT & QLD and wanted to make a website.
