About Me

As an educator with 20 years of dedicated service in the fields of special education and school leadership, I have had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of effective reading education firsthand. My journey began with a deep-seated passion for nurturing young minds and empowering them to reach their fullest potential. Throughout my career, I have honed my skills in effective reading practices and instruction. 

My approach to reading instruction is rooted in the science of reading and the research of the National Reading Panel (5 components of reading instruction), which emphasize the importance instruction in a prescriptive and systematic manner. I believe in creating a tutoring environment that is individualized and supportive, where every client feels valued and and their reading confidence is improved. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with diverse groups of learners, each presenting unique challenges and opportunities for growth.

I have a bachelor's degree in Special Education and a master's degree in School Administration. Beyond the classroom, I am committed to continuous professional development, staying abreast of the latest educational research and best practices. This dedication ensures that I can provide my clients with the most effective and innovative teaching methods available.

- Certificate of mastery in LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of     Reading and Spelling)

- Trained "as a trainer" in Keys to Literacy, Key Comprehension Routine

- Completed Project Core modules for Universal Core Vocabulary

- Completed 50 hours of Master Literacy training with NCDPI K-3 Literacy

- Completed Orton-Gillingham coursework through Key Learning Center, an accredited training program, currently working toward academy certification and practicum requirements
