ABOUT ME:
Austin Janssen is an undergraduate Cornerstone student at The Catholic University of America, pursuing a degree in politics with a concentration in American government and a minor in Writing. He is an active participant in the Cornerstone Scholars Program, specializing in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics and on track to receive it this Spring. Austin previously was a Legislative intern in the office of Connecticut U.S Senator Richard Blumenthal and Connecticut U.S Congressman Jim Himes, in addition to being a Press Intern for him.
He is the President of the Bell Society at the Catholic University, an organization on campus that is committed to helping students get internships during their time in college; he currently serves as one of the two SGA Class of 2027 SGA Senators in Catholic's Student Government, and was recently appointed to serve as the Treasurer of the District of Columbia College Democrats.
He is currently Treasurer of Catholic U College Dems and served as a Freshman Representative appointed by President Rebekah Rowe. He has successfully modernized the club by revamping the website, creating a Linktree, creating a new LinkedIn Page, rewriting the bylaws, among other things.
His passion for politics and public service stems from my personal experiences and desire to make a positive difference for my community and the nation by improving the world. Since 2021, he has been politically involved in various campaigns and initiatives in my hometown of Greenwich, Connecticut, and the state as a whole. His eventual goal is to be a congressional staffer for 10 years and go back to Connecticut to run for local office.
