ANU has strong art and design as well as social science and humanities programs. However, students in management, economics, information technology, and the natural sciences should also consider studying at ANU. With a student population of around 11,000, ANU has relatively small class sizes.
ANU offers a variety of courses in many subject areas. Students in the social sciences and humanities will find an excellent range of classes taught by top-notch faculty, while students in the visual arts will have access to some of the world’s best facilities and equipment. Students also get to study under some of the best artists and instructors in the field.
National Institute of The Arts (NITA) offers studio classes in:
ceramics
glass
gold- and silver-smithing
painting
photo media
print media
drawing
sculpture
textiles
wood
The Centre for New Media Arts offers advanced courses in:
computer music
digital video
computer animation
interactive digital media
Unlike the University of Illinois, NITA and the Centre for New Media Arts function more like conservatories, where students focus mostly on their craft and seldom take classes outside their major. For a full listing of courses offered at ANU, refer to the ANU Undergraduate Handbook.
