TESTIMONIES:
The Cat in the Hat in Seussical
"Aurora Powell - A very special person!!! I have had the pleasure of working with Aurora in both theatre performance as well as an Instructor for the programs I run. As a performer, the words dedication and preparation almost feel as if she created them. Aurora comes in totally prepared for her role in every show and has been a leader for her cast mates. I often wish I had a cast full of Auroras!! Professional as always and is always a show standout.
As an instructor, Aurora has a full syllabus and is a community teacher. She teaches by example which I love and can set her work for multiple ages and levels! I cannot wait to watch her journey in this business!!"

The Cast of Sweeney Todd
“An artist. A creator. A collaborator. There are many facets to Mx. Aurora Powell. I know them best as an outstanding Assistant Director and an exemplary Performing Artist. As the Assistant Director on our piece fallen in November of 2023, Mx. Powell helped guide our cast with a collaborative hand that both commanded respect and opened to the ideas of others. I saw them approach our tender topic, our diverse company, and our inquisitive audience with respect and thoughtful consideration. Mx. Powell’s professionalism never wavered during our project, even in the face of adversity. As a Performing Artist, Mx. Powell is poised and talented far beyond the reach of their dedicated and extensive training. They can command a room with a single note of vibrato, increase the strength of the most talented ensembles, and move audiences with their vulnerable authenticity. Whatever the project, whatever the cause, there are few other artists I know as passionately committed to excellence as Mx. Aurora Powell. It is an honor to call them colleague and friend.”

Aurora Powell is an exceptionally talented actor, director, student leader, and designer with whom I have had the privilege of working with for several years. She exhibits an unmatched commitment to her craft, approaching each obstacle with a unique inquisitiveness that keeps her constantly engaged and achieving new heights. If you happen to step into a rehearsal with Aurora, whether she is director or performer, you will see her attentiveness and ambition, challenging herself and those around her to make superior art. She is flexible but resolute, grounded but playful, respectful and sincere. As a student leader, she creates an environment of inclusivity and patience. It has been an honor and a joy to have been able to mentor Aurora and witness their continued growth as an artist.

I met Aurora in my capacity as Adjunct Professor for Script Analysis and as co-director of The Originals, both at George Mason University. I have worked with her as a student, actor, and director.
In many ways, Aurora exhibits exceptional skill sets and interests. Aurora is admirable for her neatness, diligence, and clarity. Regarding script analysis work, she is excellent in her ability to understand and interpret character, themes, and trends. She always conducts herself in a professional manner. She is a fast learner and possesses excellent writing skills. She has a keen and inquisitive mind, and a pleasing and friendly character, and a great sense of humor.
As an actor, I have found Aurora to be insightful, focused, and willing to take direction. She is especially adept at musical comedy, with a strong demeanor and intuitive grasp on character. In drama, she holds a solid stage presence, with admirable focus and ability to concentrate her actions and emotions to the piece at hand. She works well with other actors and is a joy to direct.
Aurora is an amazingly friendly and approachable person, smiling and always in a pleasant mood. I cannot say enough of how much of a joy it is to work with them.
