"a GAME about a CUBE" is a minimalist puzzle game based on a tower defence system.
You must destroy the shapes, that try to invade the cube, along their way.
To do this, you will need to move your turrets on the faces of the cube, but watch out, they all move together.
This project was carried out in school, at the end of my first year of Game Design studies.
We had to make a Tower Defence game, on Unreal Engine 5.
We were a group of three people working on it, for two weeks to create a first prototype of the game. Then a month later, we had four more weeks to finish the game, and add the assets made by 3d students.
The collaboration with the 3d students did not went well, we were not able to communicate the spirit of our game, they did not share the progress of their work.
So, we ended up with unusable assets (or without significant modifications). That's when we choose to stay on a minimalist appearance.
As we where a small group, we all worked on many things. But I was the most confortable with developement, so i was in charge of most of the game's code.
One of us wasn't very comfortable with the engine so, I did a system to be able to made levels easily, with three sizes map template, a data table to determine the ennemies and a spline to extend to establish the path.
I also made the visuals of the game, and a few levels.
