Wisp ("the Extension") replaces your browser's new tab page with a customizable glass dashboard: animated wallpapers, widgets, quick links, notes, and more.
Wisp stores all of its data locally on your device using the browser's built-in chrome.storage.local API. Wisp has no server or backend, no account, and no login. It does not transmit, sell, or share your data with anyone. The only outside network call Wisp ever makes is an optional, on-demand weather lookup — described below — which you can decline entirely.
Settings: your chosen wallpaper, accent color, glass intensity, ambient sound choice, clock format, and which widgets are visible and in what order.
A custom wallpaper photo, if you choose to upload one. It's compressed and stored locally as an image; it is never uploaded anywhere.
Quick links you add (name and URL).
Notes you write in the Notes widget.
To-do items you add.
Daily mood selections, keyed by date, if you use the Mood widget.
None of the above ever leaves your device.
If you turn on the Weather widget, Wisp will first ask your browser's permission to contact Open-Meteo (a separate, one-time permission prompt from Chrome itself), and then ask for location access via the browser's standard geolocation prompt. Only after both are granted does Wisp send your device's coordinates directly to Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com), a free weather API, to fetch the current temperature and conditions. Wisp does not request access to Open-Meteo at install time — it's requested only at the moment you click to enable the widget, and never used otherwise. Open-Meteo does not require an account or API key, and Wisp does not send any other identifying information with this request. Wisp does not use any AI models or APIs.
Wisp does not track your browsing history or the sites you visit.
Wisp does not display ads or share data with advertisers.
Wisp does not require or use any account, login, or personal identity information.
Wisp does not sell or transfer user data to third parties.

Runs searches from Wisp's search bar through Chrome's Search API, so they use whichever search engine you've set as your actual default — Wisp never overrides that choice or hardcodes a specific provider.

Fetch current weather, only when you click to enable the Weather widget. Not requested or granted at install time.
You can remove individual quick links, notes, or to-dos at any time from the new tab page. Uninstalling Wisp deletes all locally stored data along with it.
Wisp does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data at all — everything stays on the user's own device, apart from the optional weather lookup described above.
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised and the updated policy published at the same location.
