Aurails ("the app") is a local audio player. This policy covers the Google Play version of Aurails.
Aurails has no user accounts, no backend server, and does not sell your data. Your library, playlists, and settings stay on your device. Two exceptions, both from Google SDKs bundled in the app automatic crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics) and, only if you choose to watch a rewarded ad for extra free access, Google AdMob. Both are described below.
We collect nothing on our own servers — we don't operate any. The app does read and store the following, all locally on your device:
Media files & metadata— title, artist, album, artwork, duration — read from your device's local storage via the Android media library, to build your library.
App data you create — playlists, favorites, saved radio stations, custom streams, podcast subscriptions, audiobook progress, play queue, equalizer settings, downloaded files. Stored in a local database (Room) and app preferences (DataStore) on your device.
Approximate location (optional) — if you grant the "nearby stations" location permission on the Radio screen, your device's coarse location is used locally to querynearby internet radio stations. It is not stored or sent anywhere except as part of that one lookup request to the radio directory service below.
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics to automatically send a crash/error report if the app crashes or hits certain handled errors — this starts as soon as the app is installed, with no opt-in prompt. A report includes: a stack trace, the app version, and device info (model, OS version, free memory/storage, locale) needed to diagnose the crash, plus a Firebase Installation ID (a random per-install identifier, not tied to your Google account or name). No account data, media library contents, or playlist/listening data is included. Reports go to Google/Firebase; see Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's data processing terms.
Once your 4-day free trial ends, if you haven't purchased Aurails Pro, you can optionally watch a short rewarded video ad (via Google AdMob) to unlock more free access instead of buying. This is entirely optional — declining just leaves the upgrade prompt in place.
If you choose to watch an ad:
Google AdMob serves the ad. To do so it collects your device's advertising ID and other device/network identifiers, and may use them (subject to your consent choice below) to measure and personalize ads. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from AdMob.
Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) shows a consent form the first time this happens, as required by Google's policies for users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, so you can choose whether ads are personalized. Outside those regions no form is shown and only non-personalized ad serving applies.
This flow only runs the moment you tap Watch ad — the ad SDK is not initialized and no advertising data is collected before that.
Aurails itself never sees the data AdMob collects; it only receives a yes/no signal that an ad was watched, used to grant the time-limited access bonus.
These requests go directly from your device to the listed service — Aurails has no server in between and does not log or relay this traffic itself.
radio-browser.info — internet radio station directory, incl. "nearby stations". Data sent: search query; approximate location if you use nearby search.
Stream/station URLs you add or select — audio playback. Data sent: your device's IP, per normal HTTP streaming.
itunes.apple.com — podcast search. Data sent: search query.
Podcast RSS feed URLs you subscribe to — fetching episodes. Data sent: your device's IP.
musicbrainz.org / coverartarchive.org — album artwork lookup. Data sent: track/album metadata.
lrclib.net — synced lyrics lookup (Pro feature). Data sent: track title/artist.
Google Play Billing— processing the one-time "Aurails Pro" purchase. Handled entirely by Google Play; Aurails never sees your payment details, only the purchase/entitlement status.
Google AdMob / UMP — synced lyrics lookup (Pro feature). Data sent: track title/artist.
Firebase Crashlytics— automatic crash/error reporting. See "Crash reporting" above.
None of these services are operated by us, and each has its own privacy policy.
Media/storage (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)— to scan and play your local music library.
Internet — to stream radio/podcasts, fetch podcast feeds/artwork/lyrics, and process billing.
Notifications — for the media playback / download progress notification.
Location (optional, coarse) — only for "nearby radio stations"; the app functions fully without granting this.
Foreground service — keeps audio playing and downloads running when the app isn't in the foreground.
Advertising ID — collected by Google AdMob only at the moment you choose to watch a rewarded ad; see "Advertising" above. Aurails does not request or read it itself.
Crash/diagnostic data — collected automatically by Firebase Crashlytics; see "Crash reporting" above. Aurails does not request or read it itself.
At your request, the app can fetch audio from a direct URL you paste and save it to your device's local storage. This talks directly to that URL's host, not to any Aurails server.
Everything the app stores lives in the app's own storage on your device. Uninstalling Aurails, or clearing its storage in Android Settings, deletes all of it. There is nothing on a server to delete because nothing is sent to one — except crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) and, if used, ad-serving data (Google AdMob), which are retained and deleted per Google's own policies, not ours; contact Google to request deletion of that data.
Aurails does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children, since it has no accounts or data collection of its own.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same location with a new effective date.
