PRIVACY POLICY - WEARBOARD
Last updated: 25 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Wearboard collects, uses and protects your
personal information when you use our mobile app.
Wearboard helps you find where to buy a piece of clothing from a photo: you
take or choose a photo, circle the item, and the app shows you stores and
prices.
If you have questions or you do not agree with our practices, please do not use
the app. For anything at all, contact us at appauraid@gmail.com.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
You do not need an account:
- Wearboard works without creating an account. When you start using it, the
app creates a random identifier for you. It is not linked to your name, your
email or your phone number
- If you signed in with Apple or Google in an earlier version of the app, we
keep the email address of that account (if you used Apple's "Hide My Email",
only the relay address Apple gives us)
Information you give us:
- Your onboarding answers: what kind of clothes you shop for (women's, men's or
both), the stores where you usually shop, how you heard about us, and a
referral code if you enter one
- The photos you scan. Only the part of the photo you circle is uploaded, and a
small copy is kept so you can see the search again in your history
- Your search history: the results of each search (stores, prices, links and
product images)
Stored only on your phone (never sent to our servers):
- The items you mark as favourites
- The stores you chose, used to show them first in your results
- Your app preferences
Your country:
- We read your country from your phone's region settings, not from your
location, so we can show stores from your country and convert prices to your
currency
Payment data:
- Payments are processed by Apple, and your subscription status is handled by a
subscription management provider. We never see or store your card details,
your name or your billing address
How you use the app:
- We record which screens you open, which features you use and when, whether
you complete the sign-up steps, and whether you subscribe. Each record carries
your random identifier, your app version, your device model and its operating
system, your language, and the approximate city our analytics provider derives
from your internet connection
- It also includes some of your onboarding choices: how you heard about us, the
kind of clothes you shop for and the stores you picked
- We do this to understand where people get stuck and to improve the app. It is
processed by an analytics provider whose servers are in the European Union
- We never send it your photos or your search results
Device identifier:
- A random number generated on your phone and stored in its secure keychain. It
is used for one purpose only: to make sure the same device cannot redeem a
referral code more than once. It is not your device's serial number, it is
not shared with anyone, and it cannot be used to identify you
WE DO NOT COLLECT:
- Sensitive information (health, race, religion, sexual orientation, biometric
data)
- Your location. The app does not ask for location permission
- Your contacts, your browsing history or your photo library as a whole. The
app only receives the photos you choose
- Advertising identifiers. The app contains no advertising libraries, shows no
adverts, and never asks for permission to track you across other companies'
apps or websites, because it does not do it
- We do not sell or rent your personal information
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
- To find where to buy the item you circle, with its stores and prices
- To show results from your country, in your currency, and to show the stores
you chose first
- To save your search history so you can open past searches again
- To manage your subscription
- To prevent fraud and abuse of our usage limits
- To reply to your questions and give you support
When you scan a photo, you agree that it is processed by our image search
provider to give you those results.
WE DO NOT use your photos to train AI models, and we do not use them for
advertising.
WE DO NOT make automated decisions that significantly affect you.
3. CAMERA AND PHOTO LIBRARY ACCESS
- Camera: to photograph the item you want to find. The app asks for this
permission the first time you use the camera
- Photo library: when you choose a photo, the app uses the system photo picker,
so it only receives the photo you select, not your library
You can change the camera permission at any time in your device settings.
Denying it only affects taking photos inside the app.
4. WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH
WE DO NOT sell or share your data for marketing.
We share only what each provider needs to make a feature work:
- A cloud hosting provider, with servers in the United States, which stores
your search history and your scanned photos
- An image search provider, which receives the photo you scan (through a link
that expires after a few minutes) in order to find the item and where to buy
it
- A subscription management provider, which receives your random identifier
and your subscription status
- A product analytics provider, with servers in the European Union, which
receives your random identifier and the record of what you do inside the app
- Apple, which processes your payment
- Apple and Google, only if you signed in with them in an earlier version of
the app
All of these providers process the data on our behalf, under contract, and only
for the purpose described. None of them receives your data to sell it or to
advertise to you.
If you want to know exactly which companies these are at any given moment,
write to appauraid@gmail.com and we will tell you.
5. LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING YOUR INFORMATION
- Performance of a contract: to give you the service you subscribed to
- Consent: for the camera, which you grant separately and can withdraw at any
time
- Legitimate interests: to prevent fraud and abuse of our usage limits, and to
understand how the app is used so we can improve it
- Legal obligations: when the law requires us to process certain information
6. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Our main servers are located in the United States, so your information may be
transferred to and stored in a country different from your own.
Our analytics data is the exception: it is stored in the European Union and
does not leave it.
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, these
transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and on
the safeguards our providers have in place.
7. HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION
We keep your search history and your scanned photos while you use the app.
When you use "Delete my data" in the app, everything is deleted immediately
from our live systems: your search history, every scanned photo, your profile
and your referral records. There is no recovery period.
Our hosting provider keeps encrypted infrastructure backups for a short period
(up to 7 days) before they are overwritten. Those backups exist to recover from
a technical disaster and are never used to restore deleted data.
Because the app works without an account, your data is linked to the random
identifier stored on your phone. If you delete the app without using "Delete my
data" first, we cannot link that data back to you. It is not associated with
your name or email, and you can ask us to delete it at appauraid@gmail.com.
Anything stored only on your phone, such as your favourites and your chosen
stores, disappears when you delete your data or the app.
8. SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION
We apply appropriate technical and organisational security measures.
Your photos are stored in your own private folder, encrypted at rest, and can
only be opened through links that expire. No other user of the app can see
them, and our servers are built so that one user can never read another user's
data.
No system of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, so please use the
app from networks you trust.
9. CHILDREN
Wearboard is not directed to children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we find
that we have, we will delete the data immediately.
If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us at
appauraid@gmail.com.
10. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on where you live (EU, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, certain
US states), you have the right to:
- Access your personal information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Object to or restrict the processing of your information
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
- Not be subject to automated decision-making
How to exercise your rights:
You can see your search history directly in the app.
To delete your data, go to Profile and tap "Delete my data" (see section 13).
You can also contact us at appauraid@gmail.com. We will verify your request
before acting on it, and we will answer within 30 days.
If you are in the European Union, you also have the right to complain to your
national data protection authority.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context
behavioural advertising.
11. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES
Wearboard is a mobile app and does not use cookies.
We store a small amount of information on your device to keep your session
active, to remember your preferences, your favourites and your chosen stores,
and to prevent a referral code from being redeemed twice on the same device.
We do use product analytics: a record of which screens you open and which
features you use, stored in the European Union, so that we can see where the
app is confusing and fix it.
That is a different thing from what Apple calls tracking, and the difference
matters: we never combine your data with data from other companies, we never
share it for advertising, and we never sell it to data brokers. We do not use
advertising identifiers, and the app never asks for permission to track you
across other apps or websites, because it does not do it.
12. UPDATES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of
significant changes through a notice in the app.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this document shows when it was last
revised.
13. HOW TO DELETE YOUR DATA
You can delete your data at any time from inside the app:
1. Open Wearboard
2. Go to Profile
3. Tap "Delete my data" (or "Delete account" if you signed in with Apple or
Google in an earlier version)
4. Confirm
This permanently deletes:
- Your search history and every scanned photo
- Your onboarding answers and your profile
- Your referral code and records
- Your account, if you had one from an earlier version
- Every other piece of personal information associated with you
This action is IRREVERSIBLE. Once confirmed, your data cannot be recovered.
Deleting your data does not cancel your subscription. Subscriptions are managed
by Apple: to cancel, go to your iPhone Settings, tap your name, then
Subscriptions.
For any other request about your data, contact us at appauraid@gmail.com.
14. CONTACT
