Aura is an genre-bending band from Grand Junction, Colorado created by its sole-member, Michael Green. Michael writes and composes all of the lyrics, vocals, and music for Aura using mostly computers and software.
Aura was originally formed around 2002. The album, VER. 0.1, is Aura's debut-album and demo. It is a blend of multiple genres. Notably, rock and electronics or synth, featuring a cosmic/outer-space sound. Alternatively fusing sci-fi with music.
Aura blurs the lines between genres of music. Expanding through genres of psychedelic rock, prog rock, grunge rock, math rock, space rock, and art rock, among others.
VER. 0.1 (10/13/2018)
Aura released it's first full-length album: VER. 0.1, on Oct 13, 2018. The album carries diverse dynamics of both heavier to lighter rhythms and tones of rock or alt-rock. These combined with the vocals and lyrics, all seem to give the album a "sci-fi" or deep-space/cosmic mood.
Aura incorporates heavy space and sci-fi themes in it's music. Sometimes applying very unusual time signatures. The vocals use very unique harmonies. Shifting dramatically from breathy-tones to powerful-melodies. Michael sings with a "clean" sound on his vocals. In VER. 0.1, the vocal engineering only applies an echo and/or slight reverb or a distortion for effects.
The compositions are fused synth/rock and tightly-woven. The transitions from one genre or mood are very sudden and powerful. While most of the music is originally written with a piano or guitar, a lot of Aura's works are compositions that came from dreams or compositions that are imagined by Michael.
