AuraaByte ("we," "our," or "us") develops and operates the mobile application Step Counter: Pedometer (the "Application"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information collected, recorded, and processed when you use our Application.
By downloading, installing, or using Step Counter: Pedometer, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use the Application.
The Application operates primarily as an on-device health and fitness utility tool. We limit data access to permissions strictly necessary to deliver app features.
Physical Activity & Step Counts: Uses device hardware sensors (step detector, step counter, accelerometer) to count steps, compute walking/running pace, distance, and calories burned.
Health & Wellness Metrics: Stores user-inputted records such as body weight, daily water intake, target goals, and manual heart health indicators for statistical graph generation.
On-Device Storage: Unless you explicitly export or back up your data, your health statistics, weekly/monthly charts, step histories, and hydration logs are stored locally on your device storage (SQLite / Room / SharedPreferences).
Precise & Approximate Location: When you use the "Run Tracker with Map" feature, the Application requests runtime access to your device's GPS/location sensors (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION and ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION).
Purpose: Location data is accessed solely in the foreground while actively tracking a running or walking session to plot your route, calculate accurate distance, and compute pace.
No Background Location Tracking: We do not track your location silently in the background when the workout session is inactive. Route histories remain on your local device unless you choose to share your maps with others.
Technical Identifiers: Non-personally identifiable technical details such as device model, OS version, language settings, screen resolution, and basic diagnostic information to ensure stable app performance.
Notification Reminders: Uses local notification schedulers (Alarm Manager / WorkManager) to trigger hydration and run reminders.
To function as intended, the Application may request the following permissions during use:
ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION: Required on Android 10 (API level 29) and higher to detect steps and physical activity.
ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: Required for GPS route tracking on maps.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required on Android 13 (API level 33) and higher to deliver scheduled water and running reminders.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Ensures uninterrupted step counting and active GPS run tracking when the screen is locked or the app is minimized.
You can grant, deny, or revoke these permissions at any time via your Android device's Settings > Apps > Step Counter: Pedometer > Permissions. Denying permissions may disable related features (such as route mapping).
We may integrate third-party developer software development kits (SDKs) to display advertisements, analyze crashes, or load map tiles. These services may collect pseudonymous identifiers (e.g., Google Advertising ID):
Google Play Services: Core system APIs, Google Maps routing, and device compatibility.
Google AdMob: Delivers banner, interstitial, or app open ads according to Google's ad policies. AdMob may process device identifiers and coarse location to serve contextual or personalized ads.
Firebase Crashlytics / Analytics (if enabled): Collects anonymized crash stack traces and interface engagement metrics to help us fix bugs and improve performance.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal health data, GPS coordinates, or hydration logs to third-party data brokers.
Step Counter: Pedometer is designed solely for general fitness, athletic tracking, and personal wellness purposes. It is not a certified medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking treatment based on information or estimates provided by this Application.
Local Deletion: Because fitness and activity logs are stored locally on your device, clearing app cache/storage via Android Settings > Storage > Clear Data or uninstalling the app permanently deletes all stored steps, routes, weight entries, and hydration records from the device.
Reset Controls: In-app controls allow you to reset step goals, delete run histories, and clear water logs manually at any time.
Our Application does not knowingly solicit or collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). If we learn that a minor has provided us with personal data, we will take immediate steps to delete it.
We implement industry-standard practices to protect your data. Local database entries are isolated within the application's secure sandbox environment on Android, preventing other apps from accessing your private fitness data without root access or explicit intent.
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new app features, operational updates, or legal compliance mandates. Updates will be posted directly within this document, and the "Last Updated" date at the top will be refreshed accordingly.
If you have questions, feedback, or concerns regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us:
