Privacy Policy

Aura: AI Skin & Face Scanner ("we," "our," or "us") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle, process, use, and protect information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
1. Summary of Our Privacy Philosophy
Aura is designed with a privacy-first architecture. We believe that facial images, biometric-related data, skin analysis results, and self-care information are sensitive and should remain under your control.
No centralized photo collection: Aura does not collect, store, or transmit your photos, videos, raw face images, biometric identifiers, names, emails, or payment details to our servers.
On-device image processing: Camera capture, facial alignment, facial landmark detection, and skin/face metric analysis are performed locally on your device. Your photos are not uploaded to our servers.
AI recommendations with consent: If you choose to generate AI recommendations, Aura may send limited, non-identifying, text-based scan metrics and routine preferences to Groq API, a third-party AI service, only after you give explicit in-app permission.
Data control: Scan history, collections, routine notes, and preferences are stored locally on your device. You can clear them from Settings.
2. Information We Process and How We Use It
A. Camera and Face Image Data
Aura uses your camera or selected photos to analyze facial symmetry, skin texture, hydration, redness, elasticity, blemishes, and overall facial structure.
How it is used:
The App processes camera or photo library images locally on your device. It uses Google ML Kit Face Detection and on-device machine learning models to detect facial landmarks and generate scan metrics.
Where it is stored:
Raw photos and camera frames are processed temporarily on your device. Aura does not send photos, videos, or raw face images to Groq or to our servers. Scan history may be saved locally on your device if you choose to keep it in the App.
B. Local Scan Metrics and AI Recommendations
Aura can generate personalized skincare routines, weekly calendars, product guidance, and face/skin recommendations using Groq API, a third-party AI service.
Before sending any metrics to Groq, Aura shows an in-app consent prompt explaining what data is sent, who receives it, and what is not sent. Groq is not used unless you tap “I Agree.”
What may be sent to Groq after consent:
- Text-based scan metrics, such as hydration score, texture score, redness score, elasticity score, blemish count, facial balance scores, symmetry score, proportion score, and eye alignment score
- Text summaries of your scan results
- Saved insights generated by the App
- Routine preferences or onboarding preferences, such as skin goals, focus areas, and daily time commitment
What is not sent to Groq:
- Photos
- Videos
- Raw face images
- Names
- Email addresses
- Payment details
- Biometric identifiers
- Personal identifiers
How Groq is used:
Groq processes the limited text-based metrics and preferences to return AI-generated routine suggestions. Groq does not receive photos or raw biometric images from Aura. Transmissions to Groq are secured using HTTPS. Groq is required to protect transmitted metrics with the same or equal level of privacy protection described in this policy.
If you do not agree:
If you do not agree to AI metric sharing, Aura does not send metrics to Groq. The App may instead generate a basic guide locally on your device.
C. Local Preferences and Scan History
Aura may store the following locally on your device:
- Scan history
- Collections
- Onboarding answers
- Skin goals
- Routine preferences
- Generated recommendations
- App settings, including whether you consented to AI metric sharing
This information is stored locally using device storage such as SharedPreferences and local file storage. You can clear local data by going to Settings and selecting Reset Device Data.
3. Subscription and Purchase Information
Aura offers optional premium features through in-app purchases.
All payment processing, subscription management, billing details, and purchase confirmation are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store through their standard payment systems.
Aura does not collect or store:
- Credit card numbers
- Billing addresses
- Payment account credentials
- Full payment details
4. Third-Party Services and Libraries
Aura uses the following third-party services and libraries:
Google ML Kit Face Detection:
Used locally on your device to detect facial landmarks and support face analysis. Photos and raw face images are not sent to our servers for this processing.
ONNX Runtime Mobile:
Used locally on your device to run machine learning models for skin and face analysis.
Groq API:
Used only after your in-app consent to create AI-generated recommendations from limited text-based scan metrics and preferences. Groq does not receive photos, videos, raw face images, names, emails, payment details, or biometric identifiers from Aura.
Apple App Store / Google Play Services:
Used for secure in-app purchases, subscription handling, and app store licensing.
5. Security and Retention
Security:
Your locally stored data is protected by your mobile operating system’s standard device security protections. Any permitted transmission to Groq is sent using HTTPS encryption.
Retention:
Your scan history, preferences, and generated guides remain on your device for as long as you keep the App installed, unless you delete them using Reset Device Data. Uninstalling the App removes locally stored App data according to your operating system’s normal uninstall behavior.
AI metric sharing consent:
You can review or turn off AI metric sharing in Settings. If AI metric sharing is turned off, Aura will ask again before sending text-based scan metrics to Groq.
6. Children's Privacy
Aura is not designed for or targeted at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App and saved data, you can delete the data by using Reset Device Data in Settings or uninstalling the App.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, features, third-party services, or legal obligations. If we make material changes, we may notify users through the App or by updating the Last Updated date above.
