This Privacy Policy describes how Aura Notes ("we", "us", or "our") handles
information when you use our mobile application and related services
(collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the
collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Overview
Aura Notes is designed to keep your notes on your device. We do not require
an account, we do not display advertising, and we do not sell your personal
data. The only information that leaves your device falls into the categories
described below.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Your Notes (stored locally)
Notes you create — typed text, handwriting (ink strokes), images, and audio
recordings — are stored only in your device's private app storage. They are
never uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly use an AI feature on
that content (see 2.2).
2.2 AI Features
When you use an AI-powered feature (such as summarize, translate, compose,
polish, proofread, or format), the text you submit is sent to our backend
server, which forwards the request to a third-party AI provider (Zhipu AI /
open.bigmodel.cn) to generate a result. The submitted text is used solely to
provide the feature and is not used by us for advertising or profiling.
AI requests may be logged by the AI provider in accordance with its own
privacy policy.
2.3 User Identifier
The Service generates a random user identifier (or, on supported devices, a
non-resettable Android identifier scoped to this app, ANDROID_ID) that is
sent with requests to our backend to track your subscription plan and
monthly AI usage quota. This identifier is not linked to your name, email,
or any other personal information, and we cannot use it to identify you.
2.4 Purchase Information
If you purchase a subscription, the purchase is processed by Google Play.
We send your purchase token to Google Play's verification API and to our
backend to confirm your subscription status and apply your plan's quota.
We do not receive or store your payment card details; payments are handled
entirely by Google.
2.5 App Settings
Small preferences (such as your accepted Terms of Service, selected plan,
and last known quota status) are stored locally on your device.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect or access: your name, email address, phone number, or
contacts; your location; your browsing history; photos or files outside
the Service; or any advertising identifiers.
4. How Information Is Used
We use the limited information described above to:
- provide and operate the Service, including AI features;
- verify subscriptions and enforce plan quotas;
- maintain the security and stability of the backend service.
We do not use your information to advertise to you or to build behavioral
profiles.
5. Data Storage, Retention, and Security
- Notes, images, recordings, and local preferences remain on your device
until you delete them or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app deletes
all locally stored notes and media.
- Backend requests (AI text, user identifier, purchase tokens) are processed
transiently to serve your request; we retain only the minimum records
needed for subscription status and quota accounting.
- We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the
backend service. Please note that no method of transmission over the
internet is 100% secure.
6. Third Parties
The Service relies on the following third parties:
- Google Play: subscription billing and purchase verification;
- Zhipu AI: processing of text you submit through AI features;
- Google Android: provision of the device identifier described in 2.3.
These parties process data under their own privacy policies.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child
under 13 has provided personal information through the Service, contact us
and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Because your notes stay on your device, you can delete them at any time
from within the app or by uninstalling the app. You can cancel your
subscription at any time through Google Play settings, after which no
further billing occurs. You may also contact us to request deletion of any
backend records associated with your user identifier.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated"
date above indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the Service
after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
