CSEAS x GIZ x ECCC

On 18 December 2025, AUPP Community for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), in collaboration with the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), organized "No Consent," a public event held at the ECCC.✨

The event included a screening of "Red Marriage" (2012), a documentary co-directed by Lida Chan and Guillaume Suon that documents the experiences of survivors of forced marriage during the Khmer Rouge regime. The film premiered at the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam, where it was awarded Best Mid-Length Documentary.🎬

Beyond the screening, participants visited the No Consent exhibition, guided by ECCC experts who explained each piece of the display. The audience also actively engaged in scenario-based activities, reflecting on the meaning of consent by identifying situations as “no consent”, “partial consent”, or “total freedom”.

This event aimed to raise awareness of the struggles civilians faced under forced marriage policies and to encourage critical reflection on consent, justice, and memory.

We would like to sincerely thank the ECCC and the GIZ for their meaningful collaboration, as well as participants who joined us, engaged in the discussions, and helped keep these stories heard and remembered.
