If you want a raised, custom-fit tray that secures your sunglasses and phone while adding a vibrant orange accent to your dash, choose auovo Dashboard Mat Compatible; if you need a flat, full-surface cover specifically for the Skoda Fabia 2015-2019 to eliminate windshield glare, choose Generic Skoda Fabia 2015-2019. These two products solve fundamentally different problems: one is a precision storage solution with a raised border, while the other is a broad sunshade designed to protect the entire dashboard surface from heat and reflection.
• auovo Dashboard Mat Compatible: Its biggest strength is the patented raised border design that creates a secure, non-slip tray for small items like watches and headphones, but it only covers a specific section of the dash rather than the whole surface. This pick is for drivers who want organized storage and a pop of style on Subaru models (Crosstrek, Forester, Impreza).
• Generic Skoda Fabia 2015-2019: Its biggest strength is the full-width coverage that eliminates glare and protects the entire dashboard top from UV damage, but it lacks a raised lip or storage compartments, sitting as a flat overlay. This pick is for Skoda owners prioritizing sun protection and anti-glare performance over item retention.
The auovo mat is engineered for the driver who treats their dashboard as a functional workspace. Unlike standard mats that just lay flat, this unit features a patent-pending design with raised borders on two sides. This structural choice transforms a portion of your dash into a shallow tray. When you are driving on bumpy roads or making sharp turns, small objects placed in this area—sunglasses, keys, a smartwatch, or earbuds—do not slide around or rattle against the hard plastic. The high-temperature resistant silicone material ensures that even on scorching summer days, the mat will not become sticky or leave residue on your dashboard finish, a common failure point with cheaper rubber alternatives.
This product is ideal for the car owner who values organization and aesthetics. The specific inclusion of an orange trim adds a deliberate stylistic element that breaks up the monotony of a black interior. It is also perfect for those who frequently wash their vehicles. Because the mat is made of durable silicone, you can simply lift it out and rinse it under water to remove crumbs, dust, or spilled coffee. The anti-dust properties mean it doesn't trap grime easily, keeping the area above your infotainment screen looking clean without needing harsh chemicals.
However, you should skip this option if you are looking for total dashboard coverage or if you drive a vehicle outside its specific fitment range. It is strictly compatible with 2018-2023 Subaru Crosstrek, 2018-2023 Impreza, and 2019-2024 Forester models. If you own a Skoda Fabia, this mat simply will not fit your dashboard layout. Furthermore, if your primary goal is to block sunlight from reflecting off the dash onto your windshield, this raised tray design does not offer the same level of coverage as a full-overlay sunshade. It is a specialized tool for storage and partial protection, not a general-purpose shield.

The Generic Skoda Fabia 2015-2019 mat is built for utility and visual comfort. It functions as a comprehensive sunshade that lays flat across the entire top surface of the dashboard, extending from the driver's side to the passenger's side. The core function here is glare reduction. By covering the glossy surfaces that typically reflect sunlight directly into the driver's eyes, this mat improves visibility and reduces eye strain during bright drives. The nonslip underside is critical here; it is designed to stay anchored to the dashboard without sliding toward the windshield when the car is in motion, ensuring the protective layer remains exactly where you need it.
This product is best suited for owners of the Skoda Fabia model years 2015 through 2019. The dimensions and shape are cut specifically to match the curvature and layout of these vehicles' dashboards. It provides a uniform barrier against UV rays, which helps prevent the underlying dashboard material from fading or cracking over time. For anyone whose main concern is protecting the interior from the harsh effects of the sun and eliminating distracting reflections, this flat overlay is the logical choice.
You should consider skipping this mat if you need to store loose items on your dash. Since it is a flat cover with no raised edges or compartments, anything you place on top of it—like a phone or a wallet—is likely to slide off when you brake or turn. It offers zero organizational capability. Additionally, while it protects the top surface, it does not offer the same "clean-and-rinse" convenience for small debris pockets that a recessed tray might. If you wash your car often and have a habit of dropping crumbs near the screen, a flat mat might just push them around rather than containing them. It is a protective skin, not a storage bin.
• Best for car washing and debris containment → auovo Dashboard Mat Compatible. The raised border traps crumbs and dust inside a defined area, allowing you to remove and rinse the mat easily without worrying about dirt spreading across the dash.
• Best for glare elimination → Generic Skoda Fabia 2015-2019. The full-surface flat design blocks light reflection effectively across the entire width of the dashboard, a feature the smaller auovo tray cannot provide.
• Best for securing small items → auovo Dashboard Mat Compatible. The 2-sided raised border acts as a physical barrier, keeping sunglasses and headphones from sliding off during normal driving maneuvers.
• Best for total UV protection → Generic Skoda Fabia 2015-2019. Covering the entire top surface offers more comprehensive shielding against sun damage compared to the partial coverage of the auovo tray.
• Best for vehicle compatibility → auovo Dashboard Mat Compatible for Subaru models (2018+); Generic Skoda Fabia 2015-2019 for Skoda Fabia models (2015-2019). Neither product fits the other brand.
• Best for aesthetic customization → auovo Dashboard Mat Compatible. The optional orange trim allows for a personalized look that contrasts with the standard black interiors found in most vehicles.
• Best for stability during turns → auovo Dashboard Mat Compatible. The snug fit and raised border ensure items stay put better than a flat mat where gravity takes over during sharp movements.
• Best for preventing sticky residue → auovo Dashboard Mat Compatible. The high-temperature resistant silicone is specifically noted for resisting heat-induced stickiness, a potential issue with some generic rubber overlays.
In my opinion, the decision comes down to whether you need a storage solution or a sunshield. If I were driving a Subaru and wanted to keep my sunglasses from rattling around while enjoying a splash of color, I would buy the auovo mat. However, for the specific comparison requested regarding the Skoda Fabia, the Generic Skoda Fabia 2015-2019 is the only viable option because the auovo mat is physically incompatible with that vehicle. If you own a Skoda Fabia from those years and care about reducing glare during your daily commute or a long road trip, this flat mat is the superior choice. Ultimately, for the purpose of car washing and keeping your dash free of reflective glare, the Generic Skoda Fabia 2015-2019 is the practical winner for its intended market, while the auovo remains a fantastic niche accessory for Subaru enthusiasts who value organization.
No, the auovo mat is specifically designed for 2018-2023 Subaru Crosstrek, Impreza, and 2019-2024 Forester models. It will not fit a Skoda Fabia or any other vehicle brand due to the custom patent design.
It is described as a sunshade protector, so it generally aims to prevent scratches and UV damage rather than cause them.
The product description states it is easy to remove and clean with water, highlighting its washable nature. While it mentions cleaning with water, it does not explicitly confirm dishwasher safety, so hand washing is the safest assumption based on the text.
