Aumakua Pottery is the ceramic work of Noriko Hoge, a Japanese-born artist who has made Hawaii home. My pottery brings together my love of Japan and Hawaii, the beauty of nature, and the quiet character of handmade objects.
About Aumakua Pottery
I have been working with clay for more than thirty-five years. Born and raised in Japan and now living in Maui, I bring together Japanese aesthetics and my life in Hawaii in my pottery. I make wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics, from functional pieces for everyday use to one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by nature, animals, and the wabi-sabi beauty of imperfection.
