The music program at American university, in collaboration with the Marinus and Minna B. Koster Foundation, inc., are pleased to announced a call for applications to the 2022-2023 Koster Foundation Summer Study Grant.
This grant was created to support AU Music students seeking opportunities for extended learning beyond the traditional classroom and music studio.
Submission deadline for applications is THURSDAY, 1 DECEMBER 2022 at 11:59pm EST.
The Music Program will make awards to the individuals whose applications demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and are thus deserving of award funding. Awards from the variety of music disciplines (academic/performance) will be equally considered. Applications may be made for self-designed programs of study as well as for support for already established programs, research and conference attendance. The summer study grant may be used to begin a project that will continue as an Independent Study for a thesis or other such endeavor. Past recipients have used their Koster Grants as foundational work for larger ongoing creative endeavors.
Award amount will vary by the number of funded proposals and available funds.
Note: For proposals that will fund study which requires acceptance to a program (i.e., a summer program) receiving the award is contingent upon confirmed acceptance into said program. **Awards will have taxes deducted from the final awarded amount.**
Awardees will be required to file a Final Report, co-signed by their faculty recommender, within 30 days of completing their project or by August 15, 2023 (whichever comes first). Awardees will also be expected to share the results of their summer study with the Music Program through performance, lectures and/or AU student mentoring.
The committee will be comprised of four full-time Music Program faculty members who represent a diverse set of musical disciplines. Disclaimer: All award decisions are made at the discretion of the committee and are final upon announcement.
