CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) is a national research institute focusing on genomics-driven modern biology under the CSIR network. A unifying theme of the institute is its focus on human health and disease. In addition to the disease-centric studies, we also have research groups at CSIR-IGIB deeply invested in fundamental research into RNA biology, proteostasis and structural biology.
CSIR-IGIB regularly hosts currently enrolled MSc and BSc students through our Short Training Program where they spend 2-6 months working on research problems and in the process learning the method of science. This also gives them opportunity to interact with other researchers in the institute, attend seminars and engage in scientific discussions in the format of meetings, presentations etc.
CSIR-IGIB has a thriving outreach program where school and college students visit the institute in groups. We run a number of group activities designed to spark curiosity in the students’ minds. We also run the Ramanujan Hardy Program to attract and nurture off-beat thinkers and innovators amongst school students.
As part of the AUGMENT Laboratory Mentorship Initiative, we are inviting applications from students on the ASD Spectrum who have a keen interest in science to spend a week to 2 months in a lab at CSIR-IGIB. The applicants must be students who have a keen interest in science and are curious about how nature works.
Each application will be scrutinized by a team of scientists from CSIR-IGIB for interest and suitability. They may be called for an interview to the institute. Successful applicants will be matched with a working scientist at CSIR-IGIB for the mentorship program.
