Next to the target format, you can change the filename, set the DPI, and for JPG and PNG images, you can also set the desired image quality. What was once exclusively a face-to-face workshop is now available for you to learn at your own pace, available from anywhere in the world. We all rely on crop specialists, and this course uses active learning tools to give you that expertise courtesy of leaders in the industry from the Iowa Farm Bureau and Iowa State University Extension.

In this course, you will explore the topics of price movements, contracts, basis movements, option values, and creating a successful marketing plan. The class consists of video presentations, learning activities, and educational quizzes. A special emphasis is given to comprehensive planning and risk management.

The course is intended for a broad audience within the agricultural industry, such as row crop farming managers, Ag lenders, individual farmers, grain merchandisers, and agronomists. The course modules were designed to provide fundamental knowledge about grain markets and are particularly valuable for those interacting with marketing tools used to sell or purchase crops. While the course highlights examples from the corn and soybean markets, the knowledge is easily transferable to wheat and cotton markets. The course is also beneficial for a global audience as it features key concepts such as futures and options that are applicable internationally across various commodities and markets.

The course opens on November 13, 2023. All coursework must be completed before the course ends on March 22, 2024. The approximate time to complete this course is 60 hours. Once your registration information is received, we will send you your username and password to access the course site.

You can complete the modules at your own pace. You must complete all required module items before you can progress to the next module. Upon completion of the assessment and the course, you will receive a certificate of completion.

Iowa Farm Bureau members will receive a $50.00 scholarship rebate after successful completion of the course. For more questions about the rebate, contact Zach Brummer, IFBF Farmer Education Program Manager at zbrummer@ifbf.org.

Growing food more sustainably requires a commitment to innovation. To continue feeding our expanding population, the agriculture industry faces complex challenges, from drought to soil degradation to global climate change.

Build practical knowledge in modern agricultural processes and systems. Discover how to leverage technology and data to drive strategic decision-making in cropping system management while maintaining (or improving) soil health.

(1) Estimates for detailed occupations do not sum to the totals because the totals include occupations not shown separately. Estimates do not include self-employed workers.

(2) Annual wages have been calculated by multiplying the hourly mean wage by a "year-round, full-time" hours figure of 2,080 hours; for those occupations where there is not an hourly wage published, the annual wage has been directly calculated from the reported survey data.

(3) The relative standard error (RSE) is a measure of the reliability of a survey statistic. The smaller the relative standard error, the more precise the estimate.

(7) The value is less than .005 percent of industry employment.

The University Certificate in Crop Science provides an undergraduate course of study in the fundamentals of crop science. The program courses cover the importance of agronomic crops for the state and national economy; the interaction of agronomic growth, development and yield with environmental factors; sound and sustainable production systems for agronomic crops; scientific and societal issues related to biotechnology applications in crop production; and the marketing and distribution of these crops and their relation to overcoming world hunger. Like all designated university certificates, this program has gone through an approval process at the university level.

No application for admission is required for current NC State students, though students must file the Declare a Certificate form with the Department of Registration and Records. Students who are not currently enrolled at NC State, and would like to pursue a university certificate program, are considered non-degree studies (NDS) students. NDS students must complete the NDS application for admission to the university. Students must be in good academic standing to take courses at NC State University.

The University Certificate in Crop Science requires 15 credit hours. Students pursuing university certificate programs are considered non-degree studies (NDS) students for the purpose of university registration; NDS students may register for a maximum of 6 credit hours per semester. Thus, this certificate may be completed in as little as three semesters. The program must be completed within three calendar years, beginning with the initial course enrollment date. 152ee80cbc
