Ms. Ryan's Class

About Me

My name is Ms. Ryan and I will be your child's teacher this year. I am very excited to get to know all of you this year. To tell you a little bit about myself, I am orginially from Pittsboro, NC which is a small town next to Chapel Hill and I have lived in Greenville for the past 6 years before moving to Elm City in May. I have a black lab named Rosie and an Austrailian Shepherd named Denver. When I am not at the school, I love to take my dogs on adventures to nearby trails and parks.

I graduated with my degree in elementary education from ECU in 2021 and I taught in Pitt county for 2 years. This will be my 3rd year teaching and my first year in Wilson county I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, and 4th grade. I am very excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year! Since graduating I have participated In multiple professional developments focused on literacy, equity and child wellness.

September 21, 2023: Title I Annual Meeting RTA Night (5:30pm)

October 2, 2023: PTO meeting (5:30pm)

October 20, 2023: First Nine Weeks Ends 



Homework Expectations

Homework is given at the beginning of each week and is due at the end of the week for ELA and Math.  Homework may involve technology with the student's school Chromebook. 

Every night students are expected to read twenty minutes a night and record information on the student reading log. 

No homework is given over the weekend.

2nd Grade Academic Expectations

Students are expected to be in attendance for 85% of the days enrolled for the school year.

Students are expected to earn a level 439 on mClass K-2 Reading Assessment by the end of the year.

Students are expected to demonstrate 80% profiency on North Carolina second grade math standards.

Students are expected to earn satisfactory grades on the report cards to show understanding of standands taught.

K-2 Honor Roll: Students in grades K-2 who receive 80% M’s and S’s on their report card will receive a certificate each nine weeks. 


Perfect Attendance: Students who have not been tardies and who do not have any absences (including excused and unexcused). 


PBIS goals: Students will be rewarded each 9 weeks who have not received any office or bus referrals and who have no more than 6 absences and/or tardies for the 9 weeks.
