Q: How do I start using AudioRave?
A: Simply open AudioRave, pick a rave from the gallery, and it will start visualizing any audio it detects through your device's microphone. The app works with music from speakers, live performances, or party environments.
Q: Do I need to create an account?
A: No account, signup, or personal information required.
Q: Can AudioRave work in loud environments?
A: Yes, it's designed for environments ranging from quiet rooms to concerts and parties, automatically adapting to different volume levels.
Q: Can I use AudioRave with external speakers or laptops?
A: Yes, keep your phone reasonably close to the audio source for optimal detection.
Q: What is Party Mode?
A: Party Mode syncs the light show across several phones at once. One person hosts, friends scan the host's QR code, and every screen pulses to the same beat — the host's phone listens to the music and drives everyone's visuals.
Q: How do I host a party?
A: Open a rave that supports Party Mode (Strobe, Vortex, or Prism), tap the party button, and a QR code appears. Friends scan it to join. Keep the sheet open or reopen it anytime to let more people in.
Q: How do I join a party?
A: Tap the scan button on the home screen and point your camera at the host's QR code — you'll land in the synced rave within seconds. Scanning the code with the iOS Camera app also works if you already have AudioRave installed.
Q: My friend doesn't have AudioRave yet. Can they still join?
A: Yes — scanning the QR with the iOS Camera opens a page with an App Store link. After installing, they open AudioRave and scan the party QR again from inside the app.
Q: Do guests need to allow microphone access?
A: No. Only the host's phone listens to the music. Guests just receive the visuals — their microphone is never used while in a party.
Q: Why does Party Mode ask for Local Network permission?
A: Devices connect directly to each other over the local network and Bluetooth — nothing goes through the internet or any server. The permission is required by iOS for that direct connection.
Q: What happens if the host leaves or loses connection?
A: If the host ends the party or goes out of range, your rave automatically switches to your own phone's microphone and keeps going — you'll see a short notice and the show continues uninterrupted.
Q: How many phones can join, and what's the range?
A: Party Mode works across a normal room using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth range. A handful of devices is the sweet spot; guests can also relay the party to phones further away.
Q: Why does AudioRave need microphone access?
A: To listen to environmental audio for the visualizations. We never record, store, or transmit any audio or voice data.
Q: Why does AudioRave need camera access?
A: Two reasons: to control your device's flashlight/torch for light effects, and to scan party QR codes. Photos and videos are never captured or stored.
Q: The app isn't detecting audio. What should I do?
A: Check microphone permissions, test with different sounds, verify microphone functionality in other apps, ensure device volume is up, and restart the app.
Q: The flashlight sync isn't working. How do I fix it?
A: Verify flashlight availability, close conflicting apps, restart AudioRave, and check Low Power Mode status.
Q: I'm sensitive to flashing lights. Can I still use AudioRave?
A: AudioRave's effects include strobe-like flashing, so please be careful if you are photosensitive. The app caps flash rates for safety, and enabling iOS Reduce Motion (Settings → Accessibility → Motion) additionally tones down the most intense flash effects. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, consult a doctor before use.
Q: The app keeps crashing. What should I do?
A: Force close and reopen, restart device, update to latest version, free up storage, and contact support if issues persist.
Q: The visuals are laggy or not smooth. How can I improve performance?
A: Close background apps, prevent overheating, and restart your device. AudioRave automatically adapts visual quality to your device's temperature and power state, so brief quality dips during long sessions are normal.
Q: AudioRave isn't responding to sound properly. What's wrong?
A: Test different audio sources, check phone proximity to speakers, verify microphone permissions, test microphone functionality, and try audio with dynamic range.
Q: My phone gets warm during long sessions. Is that normal?
A: Yes — real-time visuals are demanding. The app automatically lowers its GPU load as your device warms up. Removing thick cases and lowering screen brightness helps on hot days.
Q: What data does AudioRave collect?
A: Anonymous usage analytics — and only if you allow it. On first launch the app asks for your consent; if you decline, no analytics are collected at all. Anonymous crash reports help us fix bugs. No audio, images, or personal information are ever collected. See the full privacy policy for details.
Q: Can I opt out of analytics?
A: Yes, anytime, inside the app: Settings → Privacy → toggle "Share Anonymous Analytics" off. Turning it off stops all future collection and deletes the analytics identifier from your device.
Q: What does Party Mode share with other phones?
A: Only a display name (like "iPhone #4F2A") and the visual sync data — colors and timing. It travels directly between the phones in the room, never to any server, and is discarded when the party ends.
Q: What raves are included?
A: A growing gallery — from the classic Strobe and Wave to immersive 3D experiences like Vortex, Prism, Abyss, and NightFlight. Look for the NEW badge on the latest additions.
Q: How do I enable push notifications?
A: Grant permission when prompted or enable in Settings → Notifications → AudioRave.
Q: Will you add new visual effects?
A: Yes, regular updates include new visualizations and features.
Q: Can I request a new feature?
A: Email oftlapps@gmail.com with feature ideas.
