Hello guys, i'm new in coding and i'm already struggling to create a very simple code, so i want to create a small interface to convert OPUS audio file to MP3 or WAV, i already installed ffmpeg and pydub, when i run my code i got this error: Error: decoding failed. ffmpeg returned error: 4294967274, output from ffmpeg/avlib:

You can use file analyzer to get source audio's detailed information such as track name, genre, bitrate and sampling rate.

On 12.04 (Precise), however, there are dependency problems with installing the opus codecs and tools, so I have found by far the best solution is the one that has become available very recently: compile the opus audio encoder and decoder as noted here, and build ffmpeg with opus support by adding --enable-opus to the configure options of ffmpeg (as listed on the compilation guide).

I know that ffmpeg is deprecated in Ubuntu in favour of Libav, but compiling is a good way to get a fully functioning opus encoder/decoder integrated into ffmpeg itself. You can then use it to convert files (first to wav) and then to .opus. The documentation installed with libopus and ffmpeg will reveal all the options that can be used to convert files.

I want to create WAV and FLAC audio files from WebM files with Opus audio streams, and I want to do so without further degrading the audio. I am currently using a 2-step process as follows (WAV example show):

I have tried the following, but it leads to a different file size so I presume that it is re-encoding in some intermediary format before creating the WAV file (leading to audio degradation that the "-acodec copy" flag avoids):

this one liner is the simplest cause all you do with your first command is copying the opus stream into another container (same data stream with tags added (writing library tag updated) then convert it to pcm (.wav)
