INVITE A FRIEND WEEK
INVITE A FRIEND WEEK: Seminary Teachers and Students to "Invite a Friend" to Seminary!
All are encouraged to "Invite a Friend" to seminary this week to participate in spiritually fun lessons and activities that help emphasize, understand and apply doctrines and principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
LESSON 195 Overcoming Procrastination
TEACHING TIP: Encourage learners to come to know the Savior by studying the gospel daily.
Scripture study gives us a chance to hear the Savior’s voice. The invitation to read the scriptures is an invitation to come to know Jesus Christ. As you teach your students about scripture study, encourage them to not only find what the scriptures teach about the Savior but to find Him. To learn more, see “The Savior Encouraged Others to Come to Know Him by Studying His Word” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 25). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 61: “Joshua 1.”
TEACHING TIP: Pray for them by name.
Praying for your students by name can help prepare you to receive inspiration to better help individuals in your class come closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. To learn more, see “The Savior Prayed for Those He Taught” in Teaching in the Savior’s Way. For additional training, see “Pray for them by name” in the Teacher Development Skills.

LESSON 184 Managing Stress and Anxiety
2.LESSON 94 Esther, Part 1
3. LESSON 95 Esther, Part 2
4. LESSON 96 ASSESS YOUR LEARNING 6
TEACHING TIP: Emphasize the example of Jesus Christ.
As we strive to live the Savior’s gospel, we are not simply following principles; we are following Jesus Christ. He is the perfect example of all gospel principles. When we focus on the Savior’s perfect example, we give the Holy Ghost an opportunity to testify of Jesus Christ and inspire your students to follow Him. To learn more, see “Emphasize the Example of Jesus Christ” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, 6). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 95: “Esther, Part 2.”
TEACHING TIP: Seek to know students—understand their circumstances, needs, and strengths.
Students are more willing to learn from someone who they know cares about them. Additionally, when we strive to get to know students with love, we can be inspired about how to best help them find personal meaning and power in the Savior and His gospel. An example of how seeking to understand students can influence our teaching can be found in Lesson 19: “Moses 8.” To learn more, see “The Savior Knows Us and Understands Our Circumstances, Needs, and Strengths” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 13).
TEACHING TIP: Create settings and opportunities for learners to be taught by the Holy Ghost.
Inspirational music can invite the influence of the Holy Ghost and create a feeling of reverence in class. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 100: “Introduction to Psalms, Part 1.”
To learn more about helping learners be taught by the Holy Ghost, see “The Savior Provided Opportunities for People to Be Taught by the Holy Ghost” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, p. 17–18).
TEACHING TIP: Teach the Doctrine.
When the Savior taught using parables, He allowed the learner to connect with different parts of the story. This helped learners find personal relevance in His teachings. When we teach the Savior’s doctrine, we can help students find personal relevance in what they are learning. One way we can do this is by helping students consider their personal circumstances as they study the scriptures. To learn more, see “The Savior Helped People Find Personal Relevance in His Doctrine” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, 23). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 105: “Psalms 61–86.”
LESSON 107 Psalm 119
LESSON 108 Psalm 136
LESSON 174 Taking Charge of Technology
LESSON 194 Organizing Tasks and Priorities
TEACHING TIP: Invite learners to prepare to learn.
Spiritual preparation matters—for you and for the people you teach. When visiting the Americas, the Savior told the multitude, “Go ye unto your homes, and … prepare your minds for the morrow” (3 Nephi 17:3). Look for ways you can follow the Savior’s example and encourage your students to prepare to learn in seminary. To learn more about how the Savior did this, see “The Savior Invited Others to Prepare to Learn” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 25). An example of preparing students to learn can be found in the student preparation for Lesson 107: “Psalm 119” (see below).

TEACHING TIP: Emphasize the example of Jesus Christ.
As we strive to live the Savior’s gospel, we are not simply following principles—we are following Him. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of all gospel principles. Focusing on His example will give the Holy Ghost an opportunity to testify of the Savior and inspire your students to follow Him. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 109: “Introduction to Proverbs.”
To learn more, see “Emphasize the Example of Jesus Christ” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, [2016] 6).
TEACHING TIP: Love those you teach—Seek to clarify and understand the real intent of students’ questions, feelings, and beliefs.
As students ask questions and make comments in class, it can be helpful to clarify and understand their feelings and beliefs, looking for the real intent of their questions. After students ask questions or make comments, one way to do this is to thank them and ask clarifying questions, seeking to understand what they might be wondering or worrying about.
For additional training on how seek to clarify and understand the real intent of students’ questions, feelings, and beliefs see: “Seek to know your students—understand their circumstances, needs, and strengths,” in Teacher Development Skills.
For more on how the Savior did this, see “The Savior Knows Us and Understands Our Circumstances, Needs, and Strengths,” Teaching in the Savior’s Way (2022), 13.
LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL TERM 3
TEACHING TIP: Help learners take responsibility for their learning.
Sometimes, teachers feel a need to tell students what they should know. However, one of the most impactful things a teacher can do is to help students take responsibility for their learning. The Savior always looked for ways to do this by asking those He taught questions and inviting them to act. For more on how the Savior did this, see “The Savior Helped Others Take Responsibility for Their Learning” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 24–25).
For an example of how you can help your students accept responsibility for their learning, see Lesson 123 “Isaiah 51–52.”
2-WEEK BREAK
TEACHING TIP: Help learners recognize the Lord’s love, power, and mercy in their lives.
Helping students recognize what the Lord has done for them can help them exercise faith in Him. An example of how to do this is in Lesson 18: “Moses 7:53–69.” To learn more, see “Help Learners Recognize the Lord’s Love, Power, and Mercy in Their Lives” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 8).
