The Climmersive Design Studio: Imagine a Green Future is a pioneering initiative unveiled for the first time at the AUC exhibit in the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
It introduces a pedagogical setup for architectural education in Egypt that couples concepts of sustainably-conscious design and climate change mitigation with state-of-the-art immersive virtual and augmented reality technology.
Using the AUC campus as a case study, Climmersive allows architecture students to perform hands-on experimentation and exploration of multiple design alternatives and what-if scenarios in an interactive fashion with instant real-time feedback pertaining to enhanced building performance and carbon emission reduction aiming to envision the greenest campus of the future.
Incorporating 3D printing with the biodegradable PLA to set the context of the first prototype case study.
Understanding the environmental factors that affect the existing case study through an interactive screen and AR to showcase the wind simulation (CFD analysis) and the solar path
Through the VR setup using the VIVE Pro Headsets to design and get fully immersed instantly in what you design through Rhino and Enscape in a real-time instant feedback loop
Since the designs are being viewed instantaneously, it becomes intuitive to students and becomes easier to gain more insight and feedback from the teaching team
