Atty. Erwin Yrrem J. Ubagan is a first-generation lawyer from Manticao, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. He is the son of Erwin G. Ubagan and Mary Mercy J. Ubagan, and the first in his family to pursue and achieve a career in law.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (AB Sociology) in 2017, graduating cum laude. During his undergraduate years, he was also active in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology. As an Advance Officer, he held various leadership responsibilities within the corps and served as Brigade Commander of the MSU-IIT ROTC Corps for School Year 2015–2016, where he oversaw training activities and the coordination of cadet officers within the brigade.
In 2018, he entered law school and pursued his Juris Doctor at the Mindanao State University College of Law, completing the degree in 2023. He subsequently passed the 2025 Philippine Bar Examination.
During his academic journey, Atty. Ubagan was actively involved in fraternal organizations. As an undergraduate, he joined Megalith Nu Sigma Phi, commonly known as MEGANS, a collegiate fraternity dedicated to leadership, service, and brotherhood. In law school, he became affiliated with Beta Sigma Lambda, an exclusive law fraternity focused on legal scholarship and professional development.
Prior to and during his legal career, Atty. Ubagan gained extensive experience as a virtual legal assistant for a U.S. based law firm. In this role, he handled a wide range of legal support tasks, including client intake and consultation preparation, review and organization of case-related documents, drafting of legal correspondence, preparation of demand letters and legal forms, and coordination with attorneys on case updates and management. Through this experience, he became proficient in assisting with civil matters, debt settlement and negotiation cases, bankruptcy-related inquiries, and client communications, while working in a fully remote environment.
His academic training, leadership experience, and professional background continue to shape his approach to the legal profession as he begins his practice.
