About Us

Many people think of insulation as something homes in cold climates need to keep houses warm in winter. Homeowners may not see the value in adding insulation to their homes and attics because of this misconception. The truth is all homes and homes in all climates benefit from insulation because insulation provides both heating and cooling benefits. Insulation works by preventing thermal heat transfer. It provides a physical barrier between outside air temperatures and inside air temperatures. This is why it works in all climates and year-round. In cold climates, insulation helps keep warm air inside the house and prevents cold air from penetrating into the living areas. In warm climates it does the opposite. Homes that are uncomfortably warm in summer or that must run their air conditioner 24/7 can benefit from insulation.

RODENT PROOFING

To rodent-proof, you will need to close off all the points of access that you identified. Use rodent exclusion materials like heavy-gauge wire screening to cover holes, metal mesh to stuff into holes around pipes, and expanding foam sealant to spray overtop of metal mesh and fill other gaps and cracks. Rodent proofing a home is the only way to ensure that your home will be permanently protected from future rodent infestation. Best of all, rodent proofing can be done without any dangerous chemicals or traps. How does it work? The rodent proofing process is done in 3 phases:

Phase 1: Inspection – Every rodent proofing job will start with inspection of your attic for rodent entry access points. Rodent infestation is only possible when these holes and gaps are left unsealed.

Phase 2: Sealing – After identifying all possible rodent access points, these entry ways are sealed with professional grade sealant and steel mesh, denying access to new rodents and preventing infestation.

Phase 3: Cleanup – Once all the entry points are sealed your attic is cleaned, disinfected and deodorized.

MOISTURE BARRIER INSTALLATION

If you have water collecting on the pipes and concrete walls in your crawlspace, then you’re experiencing a common problem. The ventilation openings were designed to flush out moisture from crawl spaces, but they often don’t do the job, except in dry climates. In fact, during humid summer conditions, they often make matters worse. The humid air carries moisture that condenses on the cool walls, the pipes and even the underside of floors. The best solution is to completely close up the vents (or omit them in new construction) and control crawl space moisture in other ways. The photo illustrates several key concepts. However, local and regional conditions vary and the exact details of this system may not work in every crawlspace. Make sure to get approval from your local building inspector before taking any steps. Create good drainage around your home to keep rainwater from flowing in under your house. Sloping the soil away from your home at about 1/2 in. per foot is usually the best thing you can do to reduce crawl space moisture.
