We’re excited to introduce @the library, a dynamic gathering place designed to bring our community together in every season. - Formerly known as the Library Advisory Board
@the library is more than a name—it represents connection. Rooted in strength, growth, and shared experiences, we are creating a space where neighbors of all ages can come together to celebrate, learn, compete, create, and connect.
Here’s what you can expect:
• 🎉 Seasonal parties and social gatherings
• 🏅 Sporting events and friendly competitions
• 🎨 Hands-on workshops and creative activities
• 🎓 Master classes led by skilled instructors
• 👨👩👧👦 Programming designed for all ages
Whether you’re looking to try something new, meet new friends, share your talents, or simply enjoy being part of an engaged community, @the library is your place to plug in.
This is a year-round initiative focused on building meaningful connections and offering opportunities for growth, fun, and participation—because community doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when we show up.
Check out our calendar of events and ways to get involved.
We look forward to seeing you @the library.
I am absolutely thrilled to introduce myself as your new President, aka the official Fun Coordinator of the group!
While "Fun Coordinator" sounds like a license to play, rest assured that I know how to get things done. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on many different boards of directors, ranging from our local neighborhood association to several fast-paced professional ones for work. I’ve also served as a church Elder, meaning I am incredibly well-versed in the fine art of committee meetings, active listening, and—most importantly—working hand-in-hand with others to reach our common goals.
My main mission this year is to bring us together. I am truly looking forward to a wonderful fall, winter season packed with warm fellowship and exciting events. My goal is to make sure @thelibrary offers something special for absolutely everyone in our community—no matter your age, gender, marital status, or background.
Let’s make this season unforgettable. Please feel free to text or email me. Or better yet join us at the next meeting and bring us your best ideas for fun!
My husband, Randy, and I bought a home in FL in 2024. We are thrilled to be part of this awesome community. We both enjoy outdoor activities and good friendship. I have been a PTA for 20 years and still work part-time. I also started my photography business 2 years ago and I create cyanotype art.
Being involved with @ The Library has given me the opportunity to be involved with the community and participating in facilitating fun activities to bring people together.
Something we might not know about you: I grew up on a farm in Idaho and I rode dirt bikes my entire life.
My favorites things to do in FL, is engaging with the people, pickleball games and enjoying the fresh cool air and quiet nature sounds that FL provides.
The reason we live here part time is to get out of the heat from the valley. However, I did not realize how wonderful the people are with so many activities, which is now the reason I truly enjoy spending my time in FL.
Joan Lebigot purchased her cabin in Forest Lakes in 2021 and made the transition to full-time mountain living in 2025. Along with her husband, Olivier, she enjoys embracing the unique lifestyle that Rim Country offers.
Originally from Minnesota, Joan has called Arizona home for the past 25 years. Her love for the outdoors, community gatherings, and the slower pace of mountain life made Forest Lakes the perfect place to put down deeper roots.
Joan enjoys bringing people together and is known for her enthusiasm for parties, crafts, reading, and spending time in nature. When she’s not exploring the forest or hosting friends, you might find her experimenting as an amateur sourdough baker, making a pot of homemade soup, or watching baseball.
Professionally, Joan works in real estate and enjoys helping others discover the same lifestyle she fell in love with in Forest Lakes. She values community connections, good conversation, and the simple pleasures of mountain living.
Hi, my name is Bonnie Gardner and we have been cabin owners in Forest Lakes for ten years. Last year my husband and I spent the whole summer here. I joined the library advisory board, now the @the library with hopes of becoming involved and getting to know more people. I enjoy participating and helping with organizing the various events that this group holds. Forest Lakes is a great little community where people are friendly and always helping each other. I enjoy sewing, quilting, reading, walking and baking and especially spending time with family and friends at our cabin in Forest Lakes.
My name is Cheryl Rogers. I am originally from Santa Barbara CA. I have lived in Tempe since 1982. I was married to my husband Paul for 43 years. I lost him to cancer in 2021. I taught preschool in Tempe for 35 years. I was so done with hot summers that I purchased my FL cabin 2 years ago. I have 3 grown children and 9 grandchildren who also live in Arizona.
My hobbies include: pickleball, horses, kayaking, hiking, travel, singing, playing guitar and ukulele, musical theater and gardening.
Here in FL , I am serving on the Fire Dept. auxiliary and @ the Library fun team. I regularly attend family game night, Card Bingo, line dance class, movie nights @ the library, and pickleball Wednesday and Friday meet ups. I also attend FL Community Church. You might also see me riding my horses around the neighborhood or walking my big white puppy. My boyfriend Wayne is also spending the summer up here in FL. My kids and grandchildren come up often too.
Something most people don’t know about me is that I acted in Musical Theatre for several years in my 40’s.
I love spending my summers up here in Forest Lakes! I have made so many wonderful friends! I’m so happy to have so many things to do up here. I feel blessed to be able to live in such a beautiful and welcoming community.
I grew up in Arizona and I have had the privilege to enjoy the mountains since I was a child. We purchased our cabin in the fall 2020 and it has been the best decision we have ever made for our family. We love the community of Forest Lakes and all of the lifelong friends we have made. I have been a residential Realtor since 2004, my husband is an account manager for commercial insurance and we have two active daughters Marilyn (8) and Madelyn (12).
I love being a part of the community and getting to know my neighbors doing all sorts of fund projects and activities.
I had amazing parents who made sure we were well rounded. My Dad gave me a gun for my 10th Birthday and I shot and harvested 3 elk and 2 deer before I was 18 years old.
I love to COOK. I enjoy making fabulous food that takes time with my family. We make homemade pasta noodles, sourdough bread, soups, pasta;s and so much more. We also enjoy hiking and riding on our Polaris.
Why Ilive here: I love the temperature, the trees, nature, and the community.
