UCHS Attendance

Welcome to the UCHS Attendance Office! This site offers attendance resources and information for you and your students. We are looking forward to helping your family with your attendance needs.

Although we want students to be in school each day for class, we know that absences will happen. It is important that parents and students understand the following State and District guidelines.

Parents must report their child’s absence. Any absence not verified by a parent/guardian within 5 days will be marked as unexcused.

To report a student's absence, call the Attendance line: 619-605-2800 x3021.

Due to the high volume of calls received each day, be prepared to leave a voicemail with the following information:

  • Student's first and last name

  • Student's grade

  • Date or dates of absence

  • Reason for absence

  • Your relationship to the student

  • Best contact # to reach you with any questions

Please include all necessary information.

The guardian's email address must be on file for the student. Repeated or missing information can delay the absence being excused.

If you believe the absence is in error, contact the teacher directly.

The teacher will work with you to address the absence and correct it, if possible.

Parents and guardians can view attendance and grades via PowerSchool.

If you have questions regarding which days and classes your student may have missed, please view their attendance records in PowerSchool. If you need assistance accessing PowerSchool, please contact the site tech, Fabi Dunker at fdunker@sandi.net.

Regardless of the reason, absences do NOT disappear.

Reported absences are noted as excused or not excused, based on the reason given by the parent or guardian. Confirmed absences errors can only be cleared by the teachers.

Future absences cannot be entered.

Any prolonged future absences can be worked out with the teachers directly and may require an Independent Study Contract. Please give as much notice as possible.

Students who will be absent for 5 days or more due to unavoidable reasons should request an Independent Study Contract.

To request an Independent Study contract please follow the below steps:

  1. Requesting a contract for Independent StudyJob Aid For Parents English / Somali / Spanish / Tagalog / Vietnamese

  2. The Attendance Clerk will start the process of notifying your teacher

  3. You will be contacted within 3-5 days of the next step with the contract.

  4. During this time (if possible), please have your child check the online class portal (Google or Canvas) to stay current on the information.

  1. If you do not hear from the attendance clerk within 5 school days, please email rpenamoya@sandi.net.

    • Court appearances requiring the student’s presence.
