Who is eligible for a Vietnam business visa?

A Vietnam business visa is a short-term visa allowing foreigners to enter Vietnam for various business purposes, such as attending conferences, signing a contract, conducting market research, cooperating with domestic enterprises, etc.

Foreigners who are eligible to apply for a business visa to Vietnam include:

Foreign investors

Foreigners entering Vietnam for business purposes (e.g., contract signing, exchanging information, cooperating, etc.)

Representatives of non-government organizations

Foreign workers with a work permit or work permit exemption certificate in Vietnam

Foreign lawyers licensed by the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam

Business Visa Validity

According to Article 9 of the amended Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam 2014, a business visa granted by the Vietnamese immigration agency is valid for 12 months at most, and new visas can be granted multiple times.

However, it must be noted that the validity of visas is at least 30 days shorter than the foreign national’s passport or international travel document.

Pursuant to Article 36 of the amended Law on entry, exit, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam 2014, business visas are not eligible for grant of temporary residence cards. 

Therefore, for those who wish to obtain their career in Vietnam, they may need to change their visa to other forms such as LD1 or LD2 so they can apply for a temporary residence card.

Vietnam business visa requirements

To apply for a business visa in Vietnam (Vietnam business visa), foreign nationals must ensure they meet all the following conditions:

Not subject to entry restrictions for Vietnam.

Have a sponsoring company that is legally registered and operating in Vietnam.

Possess a valid passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of entry into Vietnam and at least 2 blank pages.

Provide a complete set of required documents, including:

A fully filled and signed application form for the Vietnam business visa.

Passport-sized photos (4x6cm or 2×2 inches) with a white background, clearly showing the face and facial features, without glasses, taken within the last 6 months from the date of submitting the application.
