The Lockdowns Made Me Do It.

After cutting my teeth in film production for the better part of a decade, I quit the industry in 2013 to help the family business in the corporate world.

In 2020 I had plenty of time to reflect on my life choices and made a firm decision to return to filmmaking.

Digital VS Film

A visual comparison between the short film that I directed in 2010 versus the 2012 TV Series that we made for 8TV.

Back then we always wanted our HD-shot music videos to look like film so we applied all sorts of 'magic' filters. So I chose to shoot my first short film on 16mm film stock on an Arriflex SR2. We then filmed the TV Series on HD with the Canon 5D Mark II. This was when DSLRs could suddenly shoot video.

Stories.

A lot of the story elements were retained from the 2010 short film. We expanded the storyline and it became 10 episodes with 45 minutes each.

I made this reel on Instagram as a celebration for the 10 year anniversary of this show. Just a little nod to the time that I left the industry, and a statement to say that I'm glad to be back hustling for new stories to tell.
