Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) from Air- How Does It Work?

Imagine being able to extract clean drinking water from the very air you breathe. Well, it is the year 2017 and with the imagination and scientific research being carried out by scientists across the world has an accelerated rate are these ideas becoming more reality as we move further into the 21st century.

Many atmospheric water generators operate in a manner very similar to that of a DT River fire air is passed over a cool toy causing water to condense. The rate at which water is produced depends on the ambient temperature humidity, the volume of air passing over the toy and the machine's capacity to cool the oil.

These systems reduce air temperature, which in turn reduces the air's capacity to carry water vapor. This is the most common technology in use, however, a company in Ice, real cold water Gen, has built machines specifically designed to create and harvest as much moisture as possible through condensation. Using a system that uses a set of plastic leaves to funnel air in various directions.

Getting Clean Water

The team has developed water generators that appears to create pure drinking water. Out of nothing. The target is to extract water from the air with minimum energy founder & Co, Steeler Larry Coker vie said. We think our solution can solve the problem on the issues of third world countries. Its an immediate solution. Governments don't need to spend decades to make a big project. The company currently makes three sizes of water generating machines, each of which must be plugged into a power source at 80 degrees and 60 % humidity. The biggest can yield about 825 gallons per day from Atmospheric Water Generator.

Extracting Droptlets from Air

The technology is easily scalable. The company's medium-sized units produced is 118 gallons per day under the same conditions, and the smallest, which is intended for use in a home or office, produces just under four gallons per day. Water gen is just one of several companies pushing the advancement of such technological innovations. Hec to hire an engineer from Santiago chill invented a machine dubbed fresh water that can close out of the air, also filter it and turn it into pure drinking water.

Home Usage

With the press of a button, the machine works well enough that it is now being heralded as a lifeline for people throughout Chile and South America who need access to clean water. The machines are being tested in Chile's Orsi desert. Isle has big plans to build a portable backpack size devices.

Also back in February of 2016, she discovered, while researching skin, of a desert beetle, which collects moisture on its back attacked us which directs water droplets down its spines towards its room, and the super smooth surface of an insectivore picture plant were all used to design a surface that collects condensed water, vapor and rapidly transports the liquid for collection.

Effectiveness

The surface is so effective. Not only connect draw water vapor from the air, it can even transport it against the influence of gravity or unfavorable temperature gradients.

Generator Function

Dr Phil Kim said this research is an exciting first step towards developing a passive system that can efficiently collect water and guide it to a reservoir. By optimizing, the bump shape on the back of that desert beetle through detailed theoretical modeling and combining it with the asymmetry of cactus spine and the newly friction-free coatings of pitcher plan.

Available in the Market

We were able to design a material that can collect and transport a greater volume of water in a short time compared to other surfaces, as we continue to make amazing breakthroughs in science and innovation. Humanity moves closer towards a cleaner, healthier and better hydrated world.

How does it exactly work?

Well, it relies on hydro gels which are gel polymer hybrid materials designed to be super sponges that can retain large amounts of water.

The Technology

A research team led by Guihua Yu in UT Austin's Cockrell School of Engineering combined hydro gels that are both highly water absorbent and can release water upon heating. This unique combination has been successfully proved to work in humid and dry weather conditions and is crucial to enabling the production of clean, safe drinking water from the air with the use of Atmospheric Water Generator.

The Process

With an estimated 50,000 cubic kilometers of water contained in the atmosphere this new system could tap into those reserves and potentially lead to small inexpensive and portable filtration systems. "We have developed a completely passive system where all you need to do is leave the hydrogel outside and it will collect water," said Fei Zhao a postdoctoral researcher on Yu's team." The collected water will remain stored in the hydrogel until you expose it to sunlight. After about 5 minutes under natural sunlight, the water releases," Zhao said in a statement.

Harvesting Litres

Harvesting water from moisture is not exactly a new concept. Most refrigerators keep things cool through a vapor condensation process. However, the common fridge requires lots of energy to perform that action. The UT team's technology requires only solar power, it's compact and can still produce enough water to meet the daily needs of an average household.

Testing Generator

Prototype tests show daily water production of up to 50 litres per kilogram of hydrogel. Impressive information about Atmospheric Water Generator isn't it?
