Pivotal Youth Mentorship, Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) non-profit locatd in Atlanta, GA. It originated in 2023 by a group of high school basketball coaches who had a common objective of helping young men achieve their dreams of playing college basketball. The hope was always that some natural byproducts of this effort would include scholarship awards, maturation into adulthood, college graduation, and eventual job placement.
Each founding member had been involved in the youth basketball arena for over a decade, often working individually or with similar organizations. Realizing that there's strength in numbers, the three of them thought it would be better to unite in their efforts to make a larger impact. Additionally, they transitioned from a profit-motivated model to benevolent endeavor that better aligns with their mission.
Vision Statement:
To develop a cadre of young men and women who will affect positive change in their respective communities as they grow into adulthood. To provide student athletes with the tools, information, and opportunities needed to succeed in life once their playing careers have ended.
Mission Statement:
The organization lessens neighborhood tensions and combats community deterioration and juvenile delinquency by youth mentorship through basketball coaching initiatives designed to promote education, team building, and responsibility. Our 3-pillar mission aims to:
(1) Develop LEADERSHIP qualities such as effective communication, accountability, relationship building, and critical thinking.
(2) Promote ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE with our student athletes by challenging them to meet rigorous standards in the classroom.
(3) Teach LIFE SKILLS such as teamwork selflessness, conflict resolution, self-awareness, empathy, time management, and resilience.
One of the avenues that we accomplish our mission is through the Atlanta Pivot Basketball Club. "Pivot" serves high school juniors and seniors by offering highly competitive exposure opportunities for them to be evaluated by college basketball coaches. Another way that we accomplish this mission is through our Scholarship Games and career seminars.
