Alex's current research in the Atkin lab involves using s-SNOM techniques to probe biological samples. He is also conducting research at the FDA on condom–lubricant interactions and doing physics education research with the physics and astronomy group on campus. He hopes to pursue a career in academia as a professor of chemistry and mentor Deaf/HH students. In his free time, he enjoys urban dance, reading science magazines, and dragon boating (at the DC dragon boat festival every year).
