EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY LEADER GOAL
My goal as an EdTeach Leader will be to keep up with the accelerated change of technology in order to ensure that students remain engaged, master content and achieve academic success. Accelerating Change is the idea that each technological improvement can create the next, stronger generations of technology at a faster rate. As each generation of technology is better than the last, it builds new technology faster (Mortensen, 2021). The Covid-19 Pandemic shifted the world into flux and the field of education was not immune. Attempting to assist my school community during the pandemic was daunting and I didn’t know what to do first. Technology in education needed teeth to sustain the blow. My goal and intention throughout and at the end of this program is to utilize and share the knowledge acquired to train building and district leaders with up to date, relevant curriculum that infuses cutting edge technology to ensure all students have access and are engaged. I will be the change agent to research, learn and train district school leaders on fluid engaging technological modals for teaching and learning. With my new knowledge, I will be equipped to eliminate barriers that would otherwise impede access to some of our neediest students.
EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY
As a turnaround school administrator with twenty- five years in education, I am a transformational leader. Transformational leaders possess the ability to move followers to accomplish more than what’s expected (Northouse, 2019, 263). The work of moving underperforming schools to new heights takes collaboration, motivation, and vision. My ability to see and develop the strength in each teacher and student allows each cast member to see their worth. The importance of team work around one mission and vision is pivotal to the goal. As a change agent, my leadership style often has to pivot for the greater good. My ability to lift up, step up, step aside or sit down may be defined as transactional/ situational, but I think it’s my greatest characteristic as a leader, I do what I need to to ensure my school and community achieve.
