A Day in the life of and Athletic Trainer
The Athletic Trainers primary Duty is to Prevent, diagnose, and the immediate and follow-up care of Sports related injuries.
· They work with other medical professionals to educate and prevent sports injuries.
· They also provide follow-up care and treatment programs for injured athletes.
· They provide instruction in proper stretching techniques
· Teaching in injury prevention through education
Required Education
· Degree in Sports Science
· Certifications From the National Athletic trainers Association (NATA)
· Board of Certification for Athletic trainers exam (BOC)
Daily Duties
· Providing a Sport or team with immediate first aide needs
· Applying tape or Braces to Athletes in the prevention or treatment of an athletic injury
· Performing some Physical Therapy in treatment of an injured athlete
· Also, completing administrative tasks, such as writing injury reports and rehabilitation plans.
