About AAAA

Athens Asian American Alliance (AAAA) is a community organization whose mission is to advocate for the needs of the AAPI community at Ohio University, Athens and surrounding areas, increase its visibility and engagement within the broader community, organize community events, promote social justice, inclusion and diversity, and provide belonging and friendship, for all.

AAAA was founded in response to the increased violence against Asian communities in the particular context of the Covid-19. We are addressing the needs that Asian Americans are facing an all-time high anti-Asian hate crime, and they need a safe and specific place to feel included and can connect to each other to feel supported and empowered. We are also addressing the needs that Asian Americans have long been historically overlooked, that multicultural education is lacking in communities and schools outside Ohio University. Our efforts will be focused on promoting visibility of all AAPIs in Athens and help dismantle stereotypes and microaggressions directed at Asian Americans. We recognize the importance of resisting all forms of racism and strive to advance racial equity for all Athens county residents, hoping to make positive changes towards a more inclusive community in Athens for generations to come.
