Privacy Policy — Athan Time

Overview

Athan Time is a free app with no ads, no in-app purchases, and no third-party advertising SDKs. This policy explains what data the app accesses and why.

Data We Collect

Location

Athan Time requests access to your device location for two purposes:

• Prayer time calculation — your coordinates are used locally on-device by the Adhan library to calculate accurate prayer times for your position. Coordinates are not transmitted to any server.

• Nearby mosques — your location is used to find mosques near you via Apple Maps. No coordinates are sent to or stored by the developer.

You can also manually enter a city name or zip code instead of granting location access. The app functions fully without location permission if you use manual search.

Group Khatam Sessions

If you use the Group Khatam feature, the following data is stored in Firebase Firestore:

• An anonymous user ID generated by Firebase Anonymous Authentication (no name, email, or account required)

• The Juz assignments you make within a session

• The 6-digit session code you create or join

This data is only used to enable real-time collaboration within your session group. Sessions are not linked to any personal identity.

Prayer Notifications

Prayer time notifications are scheduled entirely on-device using iOS UserNotifications framework. No notification data is sent to or processed by any external server.

Lock Screen & Home Screen Widget

The widget reads prayer times calculated on-device via WidgetKit. No data leaves your device to power the widget.

Data We Do Not Collect

• No name, email, or account information

• No payment or financial data

• No advertising identifiers (IDFA)

• No device contacts, photos, or files

• No microphone or camera access

• No analytics or crash reporting SDKs beyond Firebase's built-in anonymous diagnostics

The Quran text, prayer time calculations, Qibla compass, Islamic calendar, and Tasbih counter all work fully offline with no external data transfer.

Data Retention

• Location data is never stored or logged

• Group Khatam session data in Firestore persists until the session creator deletes it or the session expires

• All other app data (settings, preferences, Tasbih history) is stored locally on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app

Children's Privacy

Athan Time does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app contains no user accounts, no social features beyond Group Khatam sessions, and no advertising.

App Store Privacy Nutrition Label

For Apple's App Store data disclosure, Athan Time reports:

• Data not collected — no data is collected and linked to your identity

• Data used to track you — none

• Location — used on-device only; not sent to the developer

Your Rights

Since Athan Time does not collect personal data tied to your identity, there is nothing to request, export, or delete beyond your Firestore session data. To remove your Khatam session data, simply delete the session within the app or uninstall.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
