Life, Death, and Fire

Christoph Gildenson, a villager of the Protharian Empire, is placed upon a course none can prepare for. A simple boy with lofty dreams seeks glory for himself and his family. When the Emperor calls for conscription, and the youth are rallied against invading savages, the young man must take up arms against the coming threat.

What awaits him are the failures of humanity and the horrors of reality. A boy who adores his mother's garden and his father's fields knows so little of true battle or truer glories. Yet, as the skies turn to fire and the battlefield becomes a cemetery, Christoph begins to understand the nature of the world. His path will contain glory, but it will cost him his humanity.

Follow Christoph Gildenson into battle, into the bowels of The Surton Spire, and deeper still into the bloodied arena of monstrous politics. The world of magic and honor await the boy. Can he truly become king of the monsters? Or will he fail as he always has and doom humanity to the nightmares contained within The Spire?
