Much of what happens in As the Fire Dies is the result of democratic decision-making - from Colony-wide decisions and elections, to more mundane actions taken by individual players and their Creeds.
Throughout the game there is one golden rule which applies to all actions taken -
All members of your Creed must agree to the action being taken.
This rule will often be monitored by a Moderator when players are acting or asking for certain effects to be set in place. When one or more members in a Creed do not agree with the chosen course of action, nothing can be finalised until this disagreement is resolved.
This rule counts toward, but is not limited to, the resourcing of buildings, resolution of Events, and even the way your Creed votes during elections.
A Note on Cooperation
As the Fire Dies, by definition, is a cooperative experience - while players and their fictional communities have different goals and political beliefs, they are all in it together.
Per the spirit of Megagames, it’s very unlikely that As the Fire Dies is a conflict-free experience. Players fulfill different roles in the social environment, some holding political power while others hold a monopoly over certain types of actions.
It’s important to remember - not just for the experience, but also for the sake of your own longevity - that this world is a dark, unforgiving one.
