ATEC Special Achievement Bursary - Students

ATEC is an association that has consistently strived to improve the learning environment of those students who have come under the umbrella of Special Education or Student Services.
In keeping with this goal, one bursary valued at $1000 and two bursaries valued at $500 will be awarded to students who, through personal sacrifice and effort, have made great strides in realizing their potential. The recipients of this bursary will be chosen by members of the ATEC executive using the criteria listed below. Incomplete applications cannot be considered. Please ensure you submit all supporting documentation along with the completed application.
Criteria:
A Nova Scotia resident.
Enrolled in a recognized educational institution within the last 12 months.
Documented learning difficulty or disability.
A positive role model to other students experiencing academic challenges.
A student who has made a concerted effort to become involved in extra-curricular school activities.
A student who has consistently met or surpassed educational goals collaboratively set by the student, parents and all educators involved.
A student whose personal situation clearly shows a need for financial assistance.
Accepted by a post-secondary institution.
How to Apply:
Make a copy of the application form (rename the document to include your name).
Submit your application and supporting documentation (listed in Section 7 of the application) to the ATEC committee by email: atecnstu@gmail.com
Applications are due by April 30, 2024.
ATEC est un organisme qui s’efforce d’améliorer l’environnent des apprenants qui sont sous la bannière de services aux élèves.
En lien avec ce but, une bourse de mille dollars et deux bourse de cinq cents dollars vont être accordées à des élèves, qui ont démontré de la persévérance accrue et qui a aussi fait des sacrifices afin qu’il ou elle surpasse leur plein potentiel. Les élèves récipiendaires des bourses seront choisis par les membres de l’équipe exécutive de ATEC selon les critères ci-dessous. Les demandes incomplètes ne pourront pas être considérées. Veuillez, svp, vous assurer que toute la documentation pertinente accompagne votre demande.
Critère:
Résident(e) de la Nouvelle-Écosse.
Inscrit(e) dans un milieu scolaire connu pendant les 12 mois précédents.
Diagnostiqué avec un trouble d’apprentissage qui nécessite un soutien, placement ou modification à leur programme.
Un(e) modèle pour les autres élèves ayant des défis académiques.
Un(e) élève qui a fait, de façon concertée l’effort d’être inclus dans les activités parascolaires.
Un(e) élève qui a atteint ou a dépassé les buts académiques qui ont été établis par l’élève, les parents et les éducateurs.
Un(e) élève pour qui leur situation personnelle démontre un besoin financier.
Accepté(e) par un institut postsecondaire.

Out of Province Conference Grant - Teachers
Recognizing the importance of professional development for teachers, ATEC is pleased to provide funding for out of province conferences in the form of one $300 grant for the 2023-2024 school year.
Application must be submitted by email to atecnstu@gmail.com using this form, accompanied by a letter from the principal/supervisor granting approval to attend.
Criteria:
Applicants must be members of the NSTU.
Requests must be accompanied by a letter from the principal/supervisor.
Individuals may receive only one grant every three years.
Requests will be evaluated in terms of student population served, other sources of funding, along with the financial commitment by the applicant as well as any other factors that may be raised by the request.
The Executive of ATEC will evaluate and award requests at their meetings in April and December of each year.
Grant recipients shall agree to submit a written report of the conference to the ATEC executive within three weeks of the closing of the conference. A cheque will be mailed to the address provided in your application upon receipt and review of the report by the ATEC committee.
