@Home experiments

@Home labs (@HE) are designed to compliment the IB biology curriculum by giving the students memorable, safe practical experiments at home. My idea for this stemmed from two things:

1. The challenge of getting through the curriculum as it is vast, sometimes practical opportunities get glossed over due to a lack of time.

2. My frustration with students not being able to come up with practical questions. I don’t find the syllabus lends itself to asking experimental questions and then students are asked to do an individual investigation that demonstrates personal significance. So I asked myself the question how can I attempt to improve students curiosity and give them more practicals.

The three original goals of @HE:

1. Provide more practicals

2. Make content memorable

3. Increase curiosity (asking ‘what if’ questions)
