In November 2020, @ Assisted Livings live outdoor shows went virtual. Due to COVID regulations and restrictions, it is imperative to limit contact with others, especially indoors. As the weather continues to become colder, outdoor performances are again not an option. Furthermore, St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner. As the preparations began for the March performance, @ Assisted Living announced in February of 2021 that their St. Patrick's Day show will be virtual.
This performance is the largest performance yet for @ Assisted Living and the second virtual show. With over twenty-four participants, eight numbers, and about thirty minutes of video, this performance is performance is like none other. Directed, edited, and organized by founder Caroline Pickett of Ridgefield, Pickett sent the performance to Ridgefield Crossings and is hoping to share it with more local assisted living facilities in the coming days.
The St. Patrick's Day show kicked off with a tribute to the renowned show, Riverdance. The @ Assisted Living troupe, Acadia and Britta Petersen and Deirdre Smith of Newtown and Caroline Pickett of Ridgefield, danced the opening number from the show, "Reel Around The Sun". The girls also closed the show dancing a two-hand to the song "Come On Eileen". This upbeat number was the perfect closer for this performance.
The Ridgefield High School Choir made their debut with @ Assisted Living. The group featured consists of fourteen members, ranging from freshman to seniors. Alphabetically, the talented singers in the choir who performed are as follows: Angelina Craine, Deirdre Flanagan, Teagan Flynn, Katherine Hoerdemann, Graham Kitchin, Peyton Lunn, Elizabeth Margewicz, Anne Pfohl, Dylan Pitz, Natalie Ragland, Elizabeth Rogers, Aaron Rubinfeld, and Grace Toperzer. Their teacher, Mr. Kevin Haines, communicated with founder Caroline Pickett about creating pieces for the show. The choir will sing two songs: "O bone Jesu" and "The Parting Glass". "The Parting Glass" is a traditional Irish folk song and will be the perfect addition to this years St. Patrick's Day show!
Of the Ridgefield High School choir members, Chloe McKinstry performed a soloist piece, called "Can't Help Falling in Love", which was written by Elvis Presley in 1961. McKinstry is a freshman at the Ridgefield High School and formly was a student at Scotts Ridge Middle School. This elegant piece, along with the other two beautiful songs performed by the Ridgefield High School Choir, a huge hit at the performance. Thank you to the Ridgefield High School Choir and McKinstry!
Also making his debut is Jimy Bishop of Ridgefield. Bishop of Ridgefield played "Johnny B. Goode" on his guitar for local residents of assisted living facilities this March for the "Virtual Performance @ Assisted Living". His performance was upbeat and lively. @ Assisted Living hopes to see him in future shows!
Returning to @ Assisted Living for the second time is father-daughter duo, Lauren and David Brooks of Ridgefield. The duo performed "Pelléas et Mélisande: Sicilienne", with L. Brooks on the flute and D. Brooks on the piano. Their performance was absolutely exquisite!
Also returning to @ Assisted Living is Alex Dillulio. Dillulio of Ridgefield plays "Fly Me to the Moon" on the cello. Dillulio made her first appearance in October of 2020 and also performed in the winter virtual performance in 2020, as well.
