Scouts had the opportunity to camp under the stars on the boardwalk. Plus they had free play in the arcade, dinner/breakfast provided, watched an outdoor movie, competed in a sand castle contest, received an event patch, and received ride wristband for Saturday.
The scouts are invited every year to participate in a service project "Faces of Freedom Cleanup". This ensures this sacred place is ready for the following Monday Memorial Day Service.
The pinewood derby is the wood car racing event of Scouts BSA. Pinewood derbies are often run by packs of the Cub Scouts program. With the help of adults, Scouts build their own unpowered, unmanned miniature cars from wood, usually from kits containing a block of pine wood, plastic wheels, and metal axles.
Remember, Honor, Teach
Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom. It’s the mission of Wreaths Across America. You can join us by sponsoring a wreath, volunteering or partnering with us on National Wreaths Across America Day and every day.
Camping means leaving distractions behind; it is just us, the forest, and our fellow Scouts. There will be hiking, campfire stories, skits, jokes, activities, and just plan fun times!
The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. However, each chartered organization can use either of two other options to celebrate this special day. An organization can adopt a specific Sunday to celebrate. In the instance of the United Methodist Church, Scout Sunday is celebrated on the second Sunday in February. It also is permissible for a local church to celebrate on the Sunday most acceptable to the pastor and congregation.
