Title: Realizing the promise of Line Intensity Mapping
Abstract: In contrast to traditional large-scale structure surveys, line intensity mapping exploits the confusion-limited regime and measures the integrated light emission from all sources, including unresolved faint galaxies, and from the diffuse intergalactic medium. It statistically measures the properties of the light tracers and the underlying matter distribution in some convenient spectral lines (e.g., HI, CO, [CII], Lyman-Alpha). I will review the main scientific goals and advantages of the intensity mapping of the different lines at various redshifts. I will give the experimental landscape and show first results. Finally, I will present CONCERTO, a large filed-of-view instrument that will be installed on the APEX telescope to conduct an intensity mapping survey of the [CII] line in the post-reionisation and reionisation epoch.
