Physical Research Laboratory Workshop 2025
Physical Research Laboratory Workshop 2025
PRL's initiative aims to bridge the gap between the astrophysics, astronomy, and astrochemistry communities in India. This program will enable participants to hear about scientific results from state-of-the-art telescopes and learn from leading experts in these fields. We welcome all interested individuals to engage with us as we collectively advance our understanding of the universe.
March 10th (Monday), 2025 (Online Mode)
(zoom, link will be shared to the participants only after registration)
Rationale:
This workshop aims to explore the latest findings and advancements in the study of astrophysical dust and ices, as revealed by cutting-edge observational technologies such as the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and ALMA, alongside results from the PRL telescope and astrochemistry laboratory. This event will highlight the crucial role of astrophysical observations in understanding both the chemistry of space and the underlying astrophysical properties and phenomena. Spectral observations are integral to astronomy, and we will look for synergies between different telescopes to uncover cosmic mysteries. Leading national and international experts will present on topics including ice observations, chemical processes, and collaboration among various observational platforms. By supporting knowledge exchange, this workshop aims to enhance our understanding of dust and ices in various astrophysical environments, demonstrating how we can leverage existing facilities to produce significant scientific results and prepare for future technical breakthroughs.
Why to attend:
The workshop will cover a range of topics:
Roadmap of JWST Observations: From observing proposals to science results, presented from a Principal Investigator's perspective.
Overview of Ice and Water Observations: In protostars, protoplanetary disks, and comets.
Overview of the Mount Abu Telescope: Spectral capabilities and related science.
Results of the Ice Experiment: Conducted by the PRL Astrochemistry Laboratory.
Each talk will be followed by a Q&A session and discussion.
