Yes a new distro was release since I originally posted (the one that includes centOS, asterisk and freepbx all together- i had tried the older version of this bundle without any luck). When I used this new distro the problem did not occur and I was able to install everything just fine.

When I try to download files with asterisks in their names the downloads fail. The downloads work fine with files that don't have asterisks, and I know that it is using the correct path. The downloads just seems to stop right after starting. Do you guys have any ideas?

I couldn't figure out what was wrong with what I was doing. Everything I was reading said that URLEncoder didn't replace asterisks. I had been testing on an emulator so I though it may be an emulator issue, so I tried on a real device. This solved the problem... Phew!

Asterisk is a software implementation of a private branch exchange (PBX). In conjunction with suitable telephony hardware interfaces and network applications, Asterisk is used to establish and control telephone calls between telecommunication endpoints such as customary telephone sets, destinations on the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and devices or services on voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networks. Its name comes from the asterisk (*) symbol for a signal used in dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) dialing.

Downloads of Asterisk are available at The currently supported versions of Asterisk will each have a symbolic link to their related release on this server, named asterisk-{version}-current.tar.gz. All releases ever made for the Asterisk project are available at

I have been using asterisk for a while along with recently getting a raspberry pi. I would love to use this on my POTS home phone. Do you happen to know of any suitable USB device that would work with the pi to allow me to connect up my home line?

For some reason the ./configure script in the astunicall-1.4.9-0.1.tar.gz does not work and do not generate the Makefile. I think it has something to do with the fact that chan_unicall.c and channels/Makefile are included in the package. So, a workaround for now is to just download asterisk 1.4.9 from asterisk.org and then copy channels/Makefile and channels/chan_unicall.c from the astunicall package.

I have installed Asterisk using the sudo apt-get install asterisk command, but when I run asterisk -r I see the Unable to open specified master config file '/etc/asterisk/asterisk.conf', which means that config files were not installed. Is there a way to install them from the official repositories without having to build Asterisk from source code?

The following commands show how to install DAHDI-linux-complete 2.4.0+2.4.0. There may be a newer version available by the time you are reading this, so check downloads.asterisk.org first. If there is a newer version available, just replace the version number in the commands:

The accountability files provide student counts and proficiency-level breakdowns at the school, district, and state levels for subjects using in accountability determinations. Grades and subjects are combined according to accountability business rules to arrive at the totals in these files. Results are suppressed where the number of valid test scores is less than 10 (this is denoted by a single asterisk *). In these files, suppression also occurs where any individual proficiency level is less than 1% or greater than 99% at the state and district level, or less than 5% or greater than 95% at the school level (this is denoted by two asterisks**).

I noticed after upgrading Xcode up to 14, that when I edit the code the asterisk in the tab beside the name of the file is not shown anymore. So it seems there's no visual response whether a file is edited or not.

For WebRTC, a lot of the settings that are needed MUST be in the peer settings. The global settings do not flow down into the peer settings very well.By default, Asterisk config files are located in /etc/asterisk/.Start by editing http.conf and make sure that the following lines are uncommented:

I had trouble with this image inside a sdcard, several read and write problems.

When looking at certain fields in Qualtrics's Data & Analysis tab or data downloaded from Qualtrics, such as First Name, Last Name, Email, External Reference, Location Latitude, Location Longitude, and IP address fields, you may see several asterisks (*******) instead of information.

But sometimes you don't remember the passwords you wrote and there you have those asterisks hiding your own password. Now you can solve that problem for free, just install this lite application and run it, then a window will appear where you'll easily find your password ready to be remembered again.

I am going to launch new instance and want to use user data section (do something on EC2 launch) in order to make the process faster without my intervention. Feel free to re-use the following snippet to seed your instance with Asterisk 15. If you need earlier version for any reason (for example you are more familiar with it), check Asterisk download page and do not forget to make adjustments in the below snippet (path to download). Downloads of Asterisk are available at The currently supported versions of Asterisk will each have a symbolic link to their related release on this server, named asterisk-{version}-current.tar.gz.

Once the sounds are converted, you need to move them to the folder used by Asterisk to store sounds and set the correct owner for those files: cp -Rap * /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/chown -R asterisk: /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/At this point, you need to select French as Phone language in the Edit User section.
