We at the Bounders Protection Foundation (BPF) have found and digitalized the notes of the -now missing- lead researcher on Bounders. We are currently looking into the situation, but for now, we hope you will find these notes informative. Please enjoy.
Bounders are noodle-y, clever, friendly creatures. They appear to be biologically similar to canines and either cervidae or bovidae.
Bounders are able to learn and speak any known, spoken human language. However, Bounders born on the mainland seem to be unable to verbally communicate with people at all.
Bounders are a fairly diverse species and are able to cross-breed with almost any other species. How this is possible is currently unknown to me.
The Isles are an archipelago found in the [REDACTED] Ocean. The islands are the home to many diverse species, including Bounders.
Bounders from The Isles are also referred to as feral Bounders. They are fairly common to find on the mainland due to increased interactions from the Mainland with The Isles. They tend to be more timid and skittish around new people. All feral Bounders are able to speak and understand any language. I'm currently unsure of why this is.
Bounders born on the Mainland are also referred to as domestic Bounders. They tend to be very friendly and energetic with people around. I know many people like to keep them as companions or have them assist in the work force. Domestic Bounders are unable to communicate at all, but they do appear to still understand any language like their feral counterparts. Similar to feral Bounders, I'm unsure why this is the case.
*Neither feral nor domestic Bounders have their own spoken language; however, all Bounders are able to communicate using squeaks and bark-like noises.*
These creatures are small guiding companions of the Chieftains. Sworn to an oath of secrecy, I am unable to learn much about the PocRa. What I have been able to learn about them comes from my own observations and stories told to me by other Bounders.
One such story is how once a Bounder is chosen to become a Chieftain, they travel to one of the islands in The Isles to be chosen by a PocRa. Only after being chosen by a PocRa does the Bounder receive the official "Chieftain" title. It was explained to me that a PocRa is only born when a future Chieftain Bounder is born, thus connecting the two to one another.
PocRa resemble the mainland's rodents -especially rats- as well as canines. They're about the size of a large sewer rat. They have very large front legs, starting thin and becoming significantly larger near the paws. However, their back legs are extremely thin. Their tongue and eyes have a faint glow, but it's extremely visible in the dark -being able to light up a small room. Their fangs, claws, and tail tip and made of gemstones. The kind of gem varies and seems to be dependent on the month in which both they and their respective Chieftain are born. According to some of the older Bounders, humans got the idea of birthstones from the PocRa and adopted it as their own.
The most well-known PocRa is Charm, being Chief Zach's companion.
