Team Holy Basil

Team Holy Basil research goals:
1) Create products from holy basil that are all natural, organic, sugar and colorants free, rich by essentiak oils, and do not taste like a medicine. One possible product is concentrated gummies covered by very dark chocolate.
2) Work on composition on the product, technology of production, 3D printing of the molds as needed - to improve the taste
3) Perform full phytochemical characterization of the products in the lab and create label of content per gummy or unit of your product
4) Develop outreach presentation of health benefits of holy basil and products from it.
5) Submit final report, power points, posters and videos, as stated below in program assignments.

1) Basing on the composition of existed power aid drinks, create a concentrated version of it as a gummies
2) Work on composition on the gummies, technology of production, 3D printing of the molds - to improve the taste
3) Perform full phytochemical characterization of the best gummies products in the lab and create label of content er gummy
4) Develop outreach presentation that includes both drinks and gummies
5) Submit final report, power points, posters and videos, as stated below in program assignments.
Assignments for team leaders only during spring semester - to complete with your team mentors and submit to Dr Volkis by teams. This is in addition to assignments that you do together with FANE team leaders.
1) Learn following techniques and obtain written completion statement from your team mentor that you know how to perform and calculate it - deadline is April 15th:
Total anthocyanins - all UV/Vis on Genesis machines

Preparation samples for ICP/MS and for GCMS
Extraction on regular extractor
Juicing bulk number of berries using the press.
Preparing all types of Hawk Power drinks and learn how to present it on the outreach program.

2) Reading on MS Teams with your mentor all materials related to your assigned project and summarizing it in 5-6 pages MS word file with illustrations. File must end by your team's research goals for the summer. Deadline - April 1st.
3) Preparing a short Power Point presentation for the first day on campus - must have an unformal introduction of the leader (major, program, research and career goals, hobbies, clubs etc.), very short presentation of the program for someone who has never read or heard anything about it, and research goals of the team for summer times. Deadline is May 1st.

Structure of introduction
Post-workshop/trip survey - must be submitted individually after each workshop or bus trip - including those workshops and trips done together with FANE.
